Pinterest the Pink Button

Well, those pink buttons have appeared on Squidoo lenses. Basically, they really work. Use the button and increase traffic. But, it is new, and many of us are still getting used to the whole idea.

This is an attempt to help you, and to help me, determine who is interested in being pinned.

Do you want your lenses to be pinned?

For me, it is an obvious "YES!" So, why would someone not want to have a lens pinned? Pinterest requires you to have a right to post the material, and to grant them the right to allow your material to be re-pinned. Some people are skeptic about losing their rights. Basically, having material re-pinned just increases traffic more.

Perhaps the real question should be, can you afford not to join? While others are gaining traffic, and they will, your lenses will drop if you do not join in. Remember, lens rank is relative.

Ettiquette

Pinterest requests you not pin only your own lenses. So, how do you find others who are willing to have their lenses pinned? That is the real purpose of this lens. Add your name to the list, and let's start reciprocating pins.

Multiple Pins

Not only can you pin a lens, but if you enter the lens URL into Pinterest you can scroll through the images and pin individual pictures. I would avoid pinning images from affiliate programs, simply because Pinterest has a prohibition against commercial usage.

I have one lens with 7K+ pins!

Getting Invited

A member must invite you. I made an entry about a successful use of Pinterest at SquidU and had several people remark they had requested an invitation, but had yet to receive one. You are invited via email, and if you do not provide an email address, you cannot be invited. If you must, create a new address, but do have one to use for the invitation.

    We have to be careful about copyright issues when pinning. I am happy to have any of my images pinned, but not everyone feels the same way.

    That is why adding to the list is voluntary. If you know your material is original, you can allow it to be pinned.
