She is very unconventional, assertive and extraordinarily strong, being able to lift her horse one-handed without difficulty. She frequently mocks and dupes adults she encounters, an attitude likely to appeal to young readers; however, Pippi usually reserves her worst behavior for the most pompous and condescending of adults.

Pippi Longstocking: The Movie The movie starts out with Pippi Longstocking sailing with her father, Captain Longstocking on the Hopatossa along with her pet Horse and Monkey, and a couple of other crew members on the ship. One night, during a hurricane, her father got washed away into the sea. He told Pippi that he'll meet her in Villa Villekula. Then Pippi returns home with her pets to Villa Villekula. When she arrives, she makes two friends across the street, Tommy & Annika, who enjoy her free-spirit and attitude. Pippi also attracts Mrs. Prysselius, a local social worker who believes she needs to be placed in an orphanage. When she goes to the police & speaks to them that the girl needs to be placed in an orphange. Pippi and her friends involve in many adventures, overtaking everyone but the adults. When Mrs. Prysselius was about to drag Pippi away to the children's home, her dad returns to take her back to sea. Unfortunately, Pippi decides to stay with her new friends instead.
