A drug with lots of possibilites
History
Piracetam was the first of a class of drugs called "nootropics" which are also known as smart drugs, cognitive enhancers, or brain nutrients. It is one of the safest drugs around. It is non-toxic and has very few if any side effects.
Dosage
The standard dose of piracetam varies with the patient. Piracetam is typically sold in capsule or powder form. The recommended dosage is usually 800 mg to 9600 mg daily. Some people report faster results by implementing an "attack dose". This involves taking 800 mg to 1600 mg every hour for 4-6 hours for the first few days.
The Future of Piracetam
We don't really know what the future holds for piracetam, because we honestly don't know exactly how it works. It is believed that it increases blood flow in the brain, improves the function of certain neurotransmitters, and improves the production of other chemicals required by the body. The problem is that we know so little about the function of our brains, that it is hard to tell exactly what is going on. Although I'm sure that as we begin unravel the higher functions of the brain, the more we will understand about how to improve them.
