Piracy is a Crime

I know everyone is very familiar with this, before a movie starts you will see an FBI warning the same applies, with equal force, to music but If you have been illegally reproducing or distributing copyrighted music, think twice and take a closer look at these warnings unless they're royalty free music.

The term royalty free music doesn't mean that they're free, the music are actually purchased for a one time fee that can be used by the purchaser as many times as needed but there are actually restrictions in reproducing the copy and sharing it.

The copyright law protects the creative work of each artist and this is what gives value to them.
Creating illegal copies of someone's creative work is equivalent to stealing and is punishable by law.

Criminal Charges and Penalties

Title 17, United States Code, Sections 501 and 506

For the unauthorized reproduction, distribution, rental or digital transmission of copyrighted sound recordings, the Federal law provides severe civil and criminal penalties and all criminal copyright infringement and violators will be prosecuted.

Digital information can seem to be as free but the fact U. S. copyright law prohibits the unauthorized duplication, performance or distribution of a creative work even on the World Wide Web, you still need the permission of the copy right holder before distributing or sharing the copy for it to become legal.

You may not find this message from music downloads but you should be aware that the full weight of the law applies just the same and that you could be held legally liable for thousands of dollars in damages unless they're royalty free music downloads.

Penalties
1. For first-time offenders it can be as high as five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.
2. The minimum penalty is $750 per song to many thousands of dollars in damages and legal fees.

3. You are also liable in civil court for damages and lost profits of the copyright holder or the copyright holders can sue you for up to $150,000 in statutory damages for each work ilegally copied or distributed.

In court rulings it was made clear that it's against the law to upload and download music without permission from the copyright holder.

Whether it's sound recordings, images, applications or text, the use of any property without copyright holder's permission is a crime. Always make sure to check it's royalty free such as royalty free music downloads, which are already paid for a one time fee and can be used as many times as needed,
