Piran - What to see

Piran is one of the most beautiful cities in Slovenia if not the most beautiful. Piran is located on Slovenian coast along the Adriatic Sea. It is old mediterranean town with interesting old buldings, squares, churches, narrow streets, gates ... Above the city you can climb on the town walls where is nice view of the town and neighbourhood. In the town you can find some museums so it is easy to spend whole day in the city.

Tartini Square

Most beautiful square in Piran

Tartini SquareTarini Square is the most beautiful square in Piran and maybe also in whole Slovenia. There are many nice buildings (Courthouse, Town Hall, Venetian House, St. Peter's Church, Loggia etc.) around big square with Tartini monument. From there you can see also church of St George on the hill. You can see there also old stone flag pole. It is nice to sit down there in summer, drink some beer and relax.

Church of St. George is the biggest city in Piran and it's hard to miss it cause it is located above old town on the top of cliff. Almost all paths from old town town centre will lead you to the church. From there is nice view around. Also church is interesting to see. There is some special part organized as museum where you can see also some old underground parts. At the church is also tower where you can climb on the top and enjoy in views of old town centre of Piran and neighbourhood.

Town WallsAbove Piran you can still see and visit old Piran town walls. You can climb on the walls and walk around to the place above cliffs. From the walls is good view of Piran old town centre. In past there were more town walls around old town centre.

Bolniska Street

Bolniska StreetBolniska Street is located in the old town centre of Piran. In Bolniska street you can see the Minorite Monastery and Minorite Church of St. Francis, Church of Mary of the Snow, the Gallery Marko Jezernik and other. The Minorite Monastery has beautiful arched Renaissance courtyard with well in the middle. Here are organized many concerts and other events in the summer time. In front of the Minorite Church is a small square, where was sometimes the cemetery.

1st May Square1st May Square is hidden in the old town centre. It is surrounded with colourful three storeyed houses. In the middle of the 1st May Square you can see statues of the figures of Justice and Law from the year 1776. Here is also the old baroque well and small St. Donat's Church, which which was built at the instigation of the family Del Senno.

Marina

Many boats, yachts, etc. in Piran Marina

Piran MarinaPiran Marina is located near the old town centre of Piran. You can see many boats, yachts, old fishing boats etc. In Piran Marina is always something happening. Marina is just next to Tartini Square, which everyone wants to see. In the nearness is also the hotel Tartini, Maritime Museum and old palaces. The nice view to Marina Piran and other city is from the St. George's Church.

    I love lenses with personal comments and photos. Thanks for the sight seeing. Stockholm in Sweden is also pretty. The city I live in - Norrkoping - I made a lens about!
