The Truth About Pit Bulls

I am here to spread the TRUTH about Pit Bull Terriers and other Pit Bull associated breeds that are considered vicious. Don't believe what the media tells you, don't be ignorant. Find out the facts before you judge!

Do you believe what you hear?

Don't be ignorant about Pit Bulls!

When you hear the words Pit Bull what do you think of? Do you think of some big vicious dog that is ready to tear your face off?? WHY does that picture come to your mind about Pit Bulls? Have you had a personal experience with Pit Bulls or are you just going by what the media portrays Pit Bulls as being?

There's a lot of controversy these days regarding Pit Bull dogs. The media portrays them as being this vicious horrible dogs that will eat your face off if given the chance! Do you know that the only reason the media talks about Pit Bulls is because they are strong and powerful.. and in the wrong hands can be TAUGHT to fight and be mean? Have you ever been around any Pit Bull in your life?? If you have ever been around a well trained Pit Bull you will see that the stereotypes are NOT true!

I have an American Staffordshire which is considered a Pit Bull breed and is on the "vicious" list.. however, if you do research on Staffordshire's you will clearly read that they are defined as being great family dogs and are considered "nanny dogs" because they look after the children in the home! Does that sound vicious to you?? I don't think so. I've had a lot of dogs in my lifetime and my Staffordshire is THE most well behaved dog that I have ever owned. He follows commands, he even follows sign language commands! He stops any bad behavior with a simple stern "no". He is GREAT with our children. You can pick at him, poke him, even sit on him and he will not even growl. All he wants to do is please us and be next to us whenever possible. .. And other Pit Bull breed owners would say the same thing about their dogs, guaranteed!

Why do Pit Bulls have such a bad rap? Because stupid humans breed them and train them for fighting. They are very strong and powerful dogs and can cause damage because of this.

Don't believe me? Did u realize that the American Temperament Testing Society did tests on 122 breeds of dogs and Pit Bulls scored HIGHER than Beagles and Golden Retrievers?? Did you know that a Labrador Retriever will bite faster than a Pit Bull will?

I'm on a mission to educate people on Pit Bull breeds. Stop believing what the media tells you! You should all know by know that the media is full of crap anyway!

I live in the state of Ohio. There is currently a proposed law to ban vicious dogs. The proposed law states that if an officer sees any dog that he suspects to have any TINY bit of Pit Bull in it the dog will be confiscated and Euthanized within 10 days. Are politicians really that ignorant to even contemplate a law like this? Do you know what kind of fight they would have on their hands? Responsible dog owners consider their dogs to be part of their family.. almost like a child! It's like banning a certain race because they are known to cause more violence! Would we do that? NO. Why should innocent dogs be killed because of pure ignorance?? Look at the photo above, does he LOOK vicious?? Give me a break!!!! (and yes, that is mine!)

Please, PLEASE sign this petition against the Pit Bull Ban! These innocent dogs don't have a voice and we have to fight to save their lives! I will fight to the death if anyone ever tried to take my dog away to kill him! Please sign:

How many other dogs do you know that would let a 5 yr old do this??

Pit Bull Hero!

With all of the negative stories you find on Pit Bulls I just wanted to share this article that I came across today.

Last month, an intruder broke into a house in Oklahoma City. He had a gun pointed at the family in the home. Their beloved Pit Bull raced into the room ready to attack the intruder and ended up taking 3 bullets before the intruder ran off!

As most of you know, Pit Bulls are such devoted dogs that they WILL risk their life to save their "family". Their family is the most important thing to them; their family is their "pack" and they will strive to protect their pack!

I just wanted to pass along the word of this heroic dog. Luckily, he survived the 3 bullets and is back home with his family safe and sound!!

Pit Bull Takes Bullet For Family

This Pit has something to say!!

Just wanted to pass this on from a myspace bulletin.....

I received an early morning call (2:00 am) from a beautiful (and so loved) American Staffordshire Terrier named Kaine Burke to help him try to get a message to those who support the pitbull ban, yet have never had or taken the opportunity to meet, pet or given a pitbull a second glance..They are the ones who are trying to exterminate this wonderful breed and Kaine is very worried about his friends who live in these states and counties who have passed a PITBULL BAN. He is also worried for himself, his sister Gotti and brother Bear (wh0 you will meet later in this video),..He doesn't ever want to be seperated from his family (2 leg and 4) and doesn't understand how people could punish and kill just because of their (his) breed...

Kaine Burke (who i consider my God Son) is the perfect example of just what this breed has to offer...I have watched him grow from a little ball of black and white fur to the handsome man he has become. He has attended all the "Walks for Gage" (his Angel brother) with his family (The Burkes- Shana and Britt) and is "The Gage Foundations" official Mascot....

He has alot to say and has asked me to ask you to:

Please watch and listen..

And I say: You can learn alot from this breed and from Kaine and the many
other pitbulls you will meet in this video..Just give them a chance!

My message to Kaine: I love you very much. You have helped your mommie and daddy make it through the worse nightmare ever imaginable and I know your Angel brother "Gage" is so happy for every single day that you have brought happiness to his (and now your) family..You had some really big paws to fill and baby you are truely a gift from Heaven..and I hope you like this video that I put together "per your request"...

Love,
Sherry Kidwell

Pit Bull Hero loses his Job!

As an over the road truck driver, George was driving along an Arkansas Highway when he noticed something on the shoulder of the road. At first he thought it was a baby deer and he stopped his truck to take a closer look. As he got closer he realized that it was an American Pit Bull puppy approximately 3-4 months old and in very bad shape.

He picked up the puppy and decided that he would take him to the nearest shelter that he came across. He was afraid the poor puppy would get hit on the busy highway. He purchased some food and other things for the puppy until he could find a shelter for him.

A few hours later he arrived at the Houston Schneider Facility (his employer). It was late and there was no management in at the time so the dog spent the night with him in his truck.

The next morning he informed management that he had to find a shelter for the dog as soon as possible. A few minutes later George was informed that his employment was terminated because he broke the companies "no pets" policy.

Schneider National sent him and the pup out on the streets of Houston with no transportation back to his home in Chicago, IL.

After all of this, George kept the puppy (now named Louie) as his own!

It's a shame that some people are just so uncaring when it comes to an animal's life. George will always be this dog's hero and he probably saved his life!!

This is a great lens! Someone came to one of my lenses from this one, so I had to check it out. I have two Pit Bulls, and I also went to school to become a Vet Tech. Thanks for helping to pass the word on these great dogs!

Im very sorry to hear about what happened. Once again it comes down to owner responsibility as he should not have been left off his cable and no owner at home! Most dogs would have reacted the same way, Pit Bull or not! Just a shame you had to suffer because of the owner's irresponsibility!

Yes, I was on HIS property and he was to be on his cable because he had bitten someone previously and this was the reason that I was there. He had given me no indication prior to this that he would bite on my previous visits, but had also been on his cable. The owner was not home and he had been let off of the cable. As I said - he came walking up and nudged my hand to be petted!! Still no signs of aggression nor any reason for me to think that this was going to happen! I am very athletic though and could withstand the impact of his blows and the jaws - but I am also scarred for the rest of my life in 3 different areas on both legs from this too!

Thank u for the comment but you left a lot of information out. First of all, where was the owner of the pit bull when this happened?? Were you on HIS territory? Most dogs are very protective of THEIR territory especially with a stranger! My AmStaff WILL go after someone if they come onto our property because he is protecting his family! Also, a dog does not need to be trained to fight to hurt someone, they have to be raised properly! A dog may not be trained to fight but may also not be trained to behave! ALL pit bulls/am staffs should be on a leash at all times, they should not be allowed to run around on their own, In fact, all DOGS should be on a leash at all times, no matter what the breed! The main reason people are afraid of pit bulls is because of their strength and yes they CAN injure someone if they attack. However, as you can read on this page, they have been proven to have a better temperament than most "family friendly" dogs.

Just to give you a very unbiased experiance - I love dogs of all kinds and don't jump to any conclusions from other peoples opinions. I have friends that have "pit" bulls of many different breeds and my job brings me into contact with MANY varieties.
I had a pit bull walk up to me and nudge my hand for me to pet him and before I could get an item out of my hand, he pulled on my pants leg - I thought to be playing, then sunk his teeth into my lower leg - shaking back and forth growling, then let go to bite again above my knee behind my leg, let go again and got more agressive and ripped my calf muscle apart before I could get into the truck and away from him. This is a dog that has not been trained to fight ..... so what is the reasoning for this. I will say - a child could not have survived the impact of his jump to put his teeth in my legs, they would have been knocked down - then what?
