Sew Placemats for Fun or Profit
Placemats are as simple or as complicated, as plain or fancy as you want them to be. They make great gifts, jazz up your home decor, can be seasonal if desired, any shape or size, any color or any type of material from every kind of fabric to mirrors, wine corks, patent leather to faux suede, or lace or most anything you can think of. You are the designer!
Everyone can make a placemat whether you are a beginner kid or a granny or granpa. They make great church bazaar items or craft fair items. You can even sell them online. Or use them to make something else like a handbag, valance, table runner, pillow or a myriad of other items.
Check out the ideas here or add your own. Everybody loves placemats!
And, if you just can't make them or don't have the time, you will find some great resources here to find your special placemats.

"The Sewing Room" Video
No, it isn't mine!
In case you are wondering what "cosplay" is, here is the Wikipedia definition.
Cosplay, a contraction of the English words "costume" and "play", is a Japanese subculture centered on dressing as characters from manga, anime, tokusatsu, and video games, and, less commonly, Japanese live action television shows, fantasy movies, or Japanese pop music bands. However, in some circles, "cosplay" has been expanded to mean simply wearing a costume.
The Sewing Room
If you're not into cosplay or sewing, then this footage will probably bore you. I uploaded it for the purpose of sharing it with my cosplay friends- a live view of my grandmother's legacy to the sewing world- her attic of AWESOME, also known as COSPLAY HEAVEN. Now before you tell me to clean it/organize it/whatever, keep this in mind: 1) It's in my GRANDPA'S house, not mine. 2) I'm a busy college student. 3) I've got a mom and 5 aunts who also never bothered to clean it up in there 4) And most importantly, IT'S NOT AIR CONDITIONED.
