These designer bathrooms amaze even jaded New Yorkers. The glass doors on the unisex cubicles offer as much privacy as a float at the Macy's parade. But hook the latch, and the glass becomes opaque. The gents are a (fully functional) monument to Victorian ornate design incorporating mosaic floors, marble fittings, shiny copper pipework, enameled alcoves, and glass-sided cisterns. Prince Charles , the Duke of Rothesay, has visited this loo in an "official" capacity

3-D Gold Store, Hong Kong

The toilet bowls, wash basins, toilet brushes, toilet paper holders, mirror frames, wall-mounted chandeliers and even wall tiles and doors are all made of solid gold. Embedded in the floor at the entrance are gold bars and studding the ceiling are 6,200 diamonds, rubies, sapphires and pearls. The store's owner was inspired by Vladimir Lenin's vision of gold toilets for the masses.

The men's bathrooms at Rande Gerber's Cherry Nightclub inside the Red Rock Casino are graced with custom cherry-red lip-shaped urinals from designer Meile van Schijndel of Bathroom Mania in the Netherlands. There are also two-way mirrors over the sinks in the adjoining men's and women's restrooms.

For those who love the great outdoors but hate using leaves for TP, this bathroom is for you. The bathrooms are outside with exotic flowers and foliage. Instead of a mirror in the ladies' restroom, you get a forest! And don't worry, the wildlife on display doesn't include germs--this bathroom has won the prize for Singapore Cleanest Bathroom many years in a row.

The Shoji Tabuchi Theatre, Branson, Missouri, USA

Branson, Missouri, features a bathroom Valhalla, otherwise known as the Shoji Tabuchi Theatre. No high tech gizmos, no sleek Feng Sui, only good old-fashioned hedonism. The women's room has a fountain, wainscoting, stained glass appointments and an Empire tin ceiling. Live orchids lay nestled at every granite and onyx pedestal sink. The fixtures are carved from black Italian marble and gold. Voluminous chandeliers soar overhead. The air is fragrant with 80,000 fresh violets (used per month). But in this glut of material luxury, simple needs are remembered--a rocking chair is placed at the changing nook.
The gents facility is equally gorgeous yet manly with black lion head sinks, black leather chairs and a marble fireplace. The burled walnut mirror was built in 1868. Men can bond over the hand-carved mahogany billiard table.

Wow, there are some amazing potties here! This would be an interesting way to travel, based on visiting all of these bathrooms.

My daughter had the bug when we were on vacation in Yellowstone Nat Park. We teased her that she could write a book rating all the outdoor toilets in the park, because she visited them all. I am sure she would enjoy this lens. Very amusing, loved the red lips and the title!
