Plan B fans: Join the team
Word of mouth made Plan B BIG. People bought extra copies to give their friends. They sent them to their mayors and congressional leaders, sent them to the president. Author Lester Brown and the folks at Earth Policy Institute realized they had a huge unsung team of ordinary--and not so ordinary--citizens spontaneously spreading the word, book by book by book.
In respect and honor for their contribution to the work of Plan B, the institute created the Plan B 2.0 Team. It's more than 1500 strong, and you can be a member too.

How to join the team
PURCHASE FIVE OR MORE COPIES FROM EARTH POLICY INSTITUTE
If you've read the book, you've probably thought of ten people you think should read it too. That's what happens to most of us. Some of us sent it to our friends, some to our senators. Ted Turner sent it to more than 3,000 leaders around the world.
To join the team, buy five or more copies from the Earth Policy Institute. They'll add your name to the Plan B 2.0 list, right next to Greg Almen of Arizona who bought five copies, Joyce Saffir of Illinois, who bought 11, or David Hersch of Virginia, who bought 41. Here's who's who on the list today.

Want to do something about it
What to do first
ACTION STEP 1 - Buy the book
What to do next
ACTION STEP 2 - Give it away
This may be the most important step of all
ACTION STEP 3 - Share it with your civic, state and national leaders
In San Francisco, for example, Mayor Gavin Newsome has worked to ban plastic grocery bags and water bottles. These two items alone wreak havoc on fisheries, wildlife, and the landscape, and we haven't even begun to look at what manufacturing them costs us all in terms of emissions, loss of dwindling petroleum resources, and global warming.
What is your local government doing to address poverty and global warming? Who there needs to read this book?
You're on your way to being a full-fledged teammate
ACTION STEP 4 - Talk it up!
Plan B 2.0 reads like a can't-put-it-down novel. How do you capsulize it? Jump to this lens for lots of juicy bites worthy of an elevator minute. If you write about the book and you quote me, please make a link back to my lens.-
Plan B 2.0: What's it all about?
-
That's what it's all about. Saving our planet and ourselves. Here's what Brown says about why he wrote the book. Plan A, business-as-usual, has the world on an environmental path that is leading toward economic decline and eventual collapse. If our go...
Ready, set, GO!
ACTION STEP 5: Hand deliver a copy to your senators and representatives
Become a citizen lobbyist and spend some face time with your elected officials in Washington. After all, they're working for you. Help them see the legacy they'll leave behind if they move to Plan B now, while there's still time--and the legacy they'll leave if they stick with the failed Plan A.

Are you a member of the team?
That's it. That's what being a member of the Plan B team means. How far have you come so far? How has Plan B 2.0 changed decisions you make in your daily life? Who have you given the book to? Who do you plan to give it to? What was their response? What more can you do?
