Stonehurst, the Robert Treat Paine Estate

This is where we got married!

A beautiful 19th century mansion with hardwood floors, oriental rugs and dark walls make this the perfect romantic setting for a wedding.

Walk out to the terrace and enjoy a view of the rolling hills and "Glacier Rock".

I got married Labor Day weekend and was able to have the ceremony outside.

Stonehurst can accommodate up to 150 guests and there is ample parking.

Veronique

The Veronique is just outside of Boston, located in the Longwood Towers in Brookline.

Large windows and dramatic balconies are only part of the European elegance which help make this a good choice for a wedding. I've been to a wedding here and would recommend it to anyone.

Lyman Estate

Another great mansion in the city of Waltham with extensive lawns and perennial gardens.

Seven rooms are used for your wedding. The oval parlor with its original, hand-carved woodwork. A dramatic Victorian library. The east parlor and the dining room, where light streams in through bay windows. The ballroom, with its crystal chandeliers, classical columns and marble fireplace. A grand staircase with a Palladian window provides a perfect spot for photographs. On the second floor, there are two beautifully furnished changing rooms. The mansion is fully air conditioned.

Nashoba Valley Winery

The Nashoba Valley Winery is about an hour west of Boston in Bolton, Massachusetts.

This is an elegant location to have your indoor or outdoor wedding throughout the year.

Castle Hill

My brother got married here years ago. It's a gorgeous venue about an hour north of Boston.

Perched high above beautiful Crane Beach, this Country Place Era estate offers a dramatic setting for weddings with extraordinary atmosphere and breathtaking views along the half-mile-long Grand Allée.

Public Garden - Boston

The Boston Public Garden is America's first public garden.

This park is elegantly landscaped with flower beds, lagoons, walking paths and statues, including a notable monument of George Washington on a horse.

A wedding ceremony may take place in the Public Garden with the permission of the Boston Parks & Recreation Department (617) 635-4505. There is a nominal fee of $50 for Boston residents and $100 for non-residents.

The Public Garden is a lovely venue for a wedding and for photographs. It is centrally located, with many hotels and restaurants available nearby for your reception. There is ample parking, offering both metered spots as well as in the underground Boston Common Garage. On the downside, you are at the mercy of the weather. Also, it can become crowded on some days.

Don't go by the website.

I used Toby for our invitations, place cards, program, thank you cards and for our menu that was placed in front of each place setting so that our guests would know right away what we would be serving.

Toby works out of the basement of her home in Waban which is about 20 minutes from Boston. Her basement does not look like an ordinary basement. You walk down the stairs and immediately feel like you're in a stationary retail store that sells gifts, etc.

I had so much fun going there on my many visits.

Toby will help you find the perfect invitation and will help you work well within your budget. She has many samples and will show you proofs before the final product is ordered.

Celebrations Gourmet Catering

Celebrations is FANTASTIC. This was our caterer. They did a terrific job from top to bottom. Toby Karlin who runs the company helped us choose a fabulous menu while keeping in our budget. My mother in-law can only eat gluten free foods, so Toby helped us find some great dishes that would work for her.

Once Celebrations arrived to our venue, we didn't have to worry about a thing. They were completely organized and took care of everything including placing our disposable cameras on each individual table.

Pierre Chiha Photographers

Pierre Chiha Photographers is who we used for photography and videography.

Pierre provided good service in terms of communication, being on time and genuinely being a nice guy, but we were disappointed with the outcome of our pictures and video. We were getting two photographers for the price of one but then a third photographer showed up which was just overkill. We had given the photographer a list of groups of people we wanted to make sure to have pictures of, but this list was never taken out therefore there were a lot of shots missing, including some of the obvious ones like a picture of the bride and her mom.

It's entirely possible that our experience won't be the same for someone else.

We did end up with a beautiful unique album and four mini albums that we gave to each of our parents as a gift.

I highly recommend Dana Markos.

I used Dana for all my wedding flowers. Dana provided the centerpieces for our tables, flowers in urns for additional decorations, bouquets to spruce up the restrooms and of course the bouquets and boutineers for our wedding party. Dana also created a "tree" for our place cards to hang from. This piece of art got so many compliments. Dana certainly has an eye for beauty and he created the most beautiful flower decorations.
