Learn Just How Easy Planning Your Own Wedding Can Be!

Planning your own wedding is much more cost effective and personal than hiring a wedding planner. It is a special time that you should be completely in control of. You and your fiancee should be the ones making all the decisions since it is your day. Besides, you guys are paying for it, so you should be in total control. Don't go thinking that planning your own wedding is impossible...many couples go that route and do a great job at it. Below you will find some tips to help you get started on your wedding planning.

Employ the Help of Married Family and Friends 

No one knows the tricks of planning your own wedding better than someone who has actually done it. Ask for recommendations on all the services you will be needed on your special day, such as the catering, music, and photography. You can easily avoid ruining your wedding day by going with businesses who have good reputations. These people can also help you pick out your dress, tuxedos, wedding music, food, and basically any decisions you have to make!

A Budget is Essential for Planning Your Own Wedding 

When planning your own wedding, it is important to have a budget set so that you do not spend more than you plan to on your big day. Attend bridal shows and fairs to get an idea of what local businesses charge for their services. If you can, get family and friends to do many of the tasks, such as preparing the food for the reception and playing the music. Going this route is much cheaper than hiring someone to perform the same job.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff 

Planning your own wedding can be a very stressful experience, but it is important to remember not to let it overwhelm you. Create a wedding planning notebook, and handle each decision one at a time. Be sure to start your planning well in advance to hopefully avoid any last minute problems. Don't begin to worry if it takes you 2 months to find the perfect dress, or if the exact color of flowers you want aren't available. Just deal with it and move on...it will make it much easier.

Planning Your Own Wedding Isn't as Difficult as you May Think 

Planning your own wedding does not have to be an extremely stressful experience. It's good to realize that you cannot do it all alone, and to enlist the help of those who have been there, done that. Also, don't worry about something going on...it probably will, but you just have to accept it and move forward.

I actually used many of the techniques I learned in the book, Amazing Wedding Planning. With it, I was able to successful prepare for my wedding, and save $1400 on my budget!
