Planning A Wedding On A Budget!!

Did you know that the average wedding can cost up to $20,000? Crazy, isn't it? That's the same price of some models of cars, and the wedding is only one day, whereas a car can last you for many years. Like the diamond industry which declared that men should budget at least two months salary for an engagement ring, the wedding industry tells brides and grooms what they should buy and how much they should spend on their wedding.

Wedding Planning Marketing

Wedding planning is just a marketing game and it trades on the same ideas that sell cars, jewelry, and furniture. The wedding industry is a $50 billion industry. But if you take time to think about what really matters most to you about your wedding, you may discover that you can live without the Cinderella glass slippers and white coach drawn by white horses. Some of the most romantic weddings have taken place in front of a minister and two witnesses who were pulled in off the street. The wedding of your dreams can become a reality when you plan a wedding on a budget.

Tip #1 Pick The Correct Date

Plan your wedding and reception for an off time of year. November, January, February, and March are the slowest months for the wedding industry. Many vendors will offer discounts during these months.

Tip #2 Watch Your Guest List

Watch your guest list. It can grow fast. Do your best to keep your guest list within reason. It is easy to get carried away when thinking of all the people you want to share this happy day with.

Tip #3 Choose A DJ

Live bands are nice but can quadruple your costs. DJs are a great way to go and have a wide selection of music. They offer an excellent way to cut costs.

Tip #4 Choose The Correct Photographer

Hire a photographer that has unlimited time coverage on your wedding day.

Tip #5 Same Place Wedding/Reception

Consider having your wedding and reception at the same place. This may gave you a package deal as opposed to paying for two separate facilities.

Tip #6 Bring Your Own Food (B.Y.O.F)

Also consider having your reception at a facility that allows you to bring in your own caterer. Most wedding reception facilities make their money from the food and beverage they sell. When you can bring in your own food, it's cheaper and allows you to provide whatever food and drink you want.

Tip #7 Friday/Saturday Wedding

Consider having your wedding and reception on a less in demand day or less in demand time. In other words, having a wedding on a Friday or Sunday is a great way to book vendors at a discount price. Also the same holds true for Saturday afternoon weddings.

Tip #8 Decorate Yourself

Do the decorating yourself. You can hire someone to decorate and spend a ton of money on fancy centerpieces, balloons, flowers, and other items that you could do yourself. Delegate a specific decorating item to a friend, bridesmaid, or relative. They will be thrilled you even asked.

Tip #9 Make Your Own Invitations

With the computer technology we have today, you can make your own invitations.

Tip #10 Book an All-Inclusive Package

Book your honeymoon as an all-inclusive package and try to stay national or close. When you book exotic far out destinations, more money will be spent.

One FINAL Way To Save $$$

There are still ways to achieve your dream wedding without losing the farm. There are many more ways you can save, but these are just ten helpful tips to get you to think of planning a wedding on a budget. One final way to save money: Elope and have a moderately elaborate reception upon your return to celebrate your big day. But no matter what: enjoy it - It's your wedding day!
