Planters Wart Remedy . . . Days or Months -- YOU Choose !
If you're looking for a Planters wart remedy, we will examine quite a variety of available options, benefits and drawbacks will be detailed. But first, what IS a planters (officially 'plantar' wart) ? A plantar wart is a wart that appears on the underside of the foot -- quite often on the ball of the foot, or the heel area -- areas where pressure from the bones above may aggravate them. Because of this pressure, they sometimes grow inward ! By the way, this bottom area of the foot, is referred to as the plantar area . . .Effective remedies are available. Two things differentiate the remedies: expense, and length of time to get rid of the wart ! Most remedies are relatively painless -- often less painful than the discomfort brought on the the wart itself.
Available Remedies - What's Out There ?
What might your family doctor may recommend ? . .
Medical options that your doctor might offer are typically expensive and many can take multiple visits, spread over weeks or months. Your family doctor or a podiatrist may recommend any of the following:- Cryotherapy involves freezing warts with a very cold solution (like, sodium nitride) that destroys the virus and causes the wart to turn black and fall off within a few days. This treatment is ineffective in some cases when the solution does not penetrate far enough to completely destroy the virus.
- Surgical removal (called curettage) is a procedure performed in a podiatrist's office under local anesthesia. This is only done for very small warts (1-2 cm) but not for large clusters -- which can grow to over an inch across !
- In some cases, podiatrists apply mild acid (e.g., salicylic acid, cantharidin, dichloroacetic acid) topically to treat plantar warts. This treatment, which often requires multiple applications over the course of several weeks, disintegrates viral cells and allows healthy skin cells to replace them.
- Laser treatments can sometimes be used to treat plantar warts. Laser treatment is performed in a podiatrist's office or an outpatient surgery facility using local anesthesia. Lasers produce only very little scarring.
A Planters Wart Remedy You Can Afford !
Safe and painless, to boot . . .
There are many do-it-yourself remedies available. Some sound bizarre, but work, others sound reasonable and logical, but can take forever -- and the patience of a saint !Even the "duct-tape" can work in many cases. However, if you read the procedure, if might take quite a few "rounds" of treatment, each taking 7 - 10 days. This is less likely to work with large clusters, however.
Placing acidic solutions on your wart may be effective, however the acids -- available over-the-counter at your drug store -- also destroy healthy cells, and may not get deep enough to completely eliminate the wart(s). For this reason, many medical doctors do not recommend self-treatment with acid.
I've seen dozens and dozens of claimed "cures" to eliminate your warts. Most advocate covering them and keeping them dry, and perhaps some sort of "scraping" or "filing" of the dead cells, as more and more of it dies off. Most of these seemed to take many "passes" and much patience -- few are guaranteed to work, but most are inexpensive, compared to a single doctors visit. Most also seemed safe, if you are careful to be sterile, in order to avoid infections.
