Adult And Kid's Video Games

Video games are a kid's entertainment, but it is also an adult entertainment. It was long ago when video games were mainly intended for kids, nowadays there are games intended for kids and games intended for the adult industry and they can not be mixed up. The same as it is not recommended that a kid watches porn movies, a kid should not play adult games which are only intended by adults. It is important to remove from our minds the idea of "it is only a game" because some games are even dangerous for kids, but it is not the kid's fault or the game developer's fault, the only responsible in all this is the adult who is not overseeing the kid.

What A Game Should Have In Order To Be Suitable For Kids

Some games are mainly intended for kids, and they usually are easy to use and have some values behind them or will teach the kid a lesson and fall under the educative games category as well.

Educational purposes

Some kid's video games are educational and the main purpose is to teach the kid a lesson in the funniest way possible. When a lesson is funny to learn it is easy for the kid to remember it for a long time because there is no need to "force" him to learn the concept, he will do while he plays.

Fun Oriented

Games are usually intended to provide fun to the user, either it is a kid or it is an adult, but fun oriented kids games are games which are not teaching anything to the kid and rather they only seek to provide entertainment.

Character Oriented Games

Some games are part of a franchise of fantasy characters which usually come from TV shows for kids. These games can be either fun oriented or with educational purposes but are much more attractive to kids because they love to see their favorite characters from the TV depicted in the games.

Do You Know?

Studies prove that when a kid has gathered knowledge through a game while being entertained, the information will be retained for a longer time than a lesson which has been forcefully inserted into their brains.

What Is An Adult Game

There is some content which is not intended for kids and they should never play kid games with this kind of content. Violence, blood and gore, explicit language, erotic or even porn content is usually displayed in Adult games, and that's the reason for them to be rated as adult content and not being suitable for kids.

Violence

Although some degree of violence is tolerated for kids (Something like Tom & Jerry Cartoons), extreme violence is not good for kids and they may think it is ok to use that kind of violence in the real life. Blood and gore may scare a young kid or even traumatize him.

Language and Behavior

We all use some degree of dirty language, but in some video games it is too much, not to mention the behavior of the characters in the game. Some games allow the player to deal with drugs, kill for money, humiliate rivals and even perform other crimes.

Erotic and Porn Content

A few years ago, erotic and porn content was very limited in video games, mostly because the graphics were not too good to depict real sex, but now virtual characters resemble humans so much that they are suitable for erotic and porn content and more games add this kind of content to their games.

There are very different legislations when it comes to rate a video game. While Australians and Germans are the toughest, Japanese are the softest of them, allowing kids of 15 to play really gory and violent games.
