Opening Keynote by HP's Paul Campbell

Paul Campbell is the founder of HP's Gaming Business, a startup business inside HP's $35B PC business. The Gaming Business Unit is Paul's 5th startup within HP during his 21-year stint there.

Paul founded the Gaming Business with the sole purpose of developing innovative PC Gaming rings, accessories and services that dramatically improve the PC gaming experience. As a way to accelerate the program, HP bought Voodoo PC, the leading gaming PC maker, in Sept'06.

Creating new growth businesses is challenging in any company, but especially challenging inside established, mega-organizations where 'Intrepreneurs' must compete with core business unit managers for scarce resources. Paul's experience in creating 4 successful businesses in 5 attempts demonstrates an insightful understanding of how to overcome organizational challenges inherent in mega-organizations.

The full story of the current re-invention of HP, the 'grand daddy of Silicon Valley' is still being written. HP will be studied many times over to understand what it did right during this period of its 68+ year history. The careful investment in startup businesses has been one part of HP's successful turnaround.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys playing competitive handball with his son who is a national champion, golfing, mountain biking and caring for his level 70 character in World of Warcraft.
