I have been collecting Playing Cards to over 20 years. I go in spurts. I collect full sets. I prefer new ones that are sealled, but any full set will do. I have a couple hundred at least. I was just thinking the other day about cataloging them, but thought that I would look for groups that collect them. Are there any that trade, buy, sell? Thank you

Yes, the Chicago Playing Card group has many active members that love to trade, sell, and buy. http://www.cpccinc.org/. The other group I know of is also a great group that is interested in decks. They are the 52 Plus Joker group. Here is that link: http://www.52plusjoker.org/dnn/

I don't collect but we use our playing cards. We love to have a variety of decks. Our current favorite is horse themed. Great lens topic.

Horse themed playing cards are a favorite theme for card collectors of all ages.

Enjoyed the lens! I love collecting. We don't collect cards - it's nativity scenes for Christmas. Thumbs up!

We used to play cards with a MAD card deck - lots of fun. A little like UNO

You made my day. I hope you do start a collection. Maybe we can trade after that if you collect singles.

is there a way to make your own cards easily?
  • lizziebeth Sep 19, 2010 @ 5:08 pm | delete
Yes. You can order custom cards from the US Playing Card Company or other manufacturers. You can also make them by hand, but this is (of course) harder. The playing cards companies OR Ad Specialties companies will help you develop your own cards. It is a lot easier than it used to be, and there is more variety available. I sent some links to you just now too. Be looking for a lens on this soon! :-) Thanks -B

Looking at old card graphics would be like looking in an antique store. I love to see how it was in the past.
  • lizziebeth Sep 19, 2010 @ 5:09 pm | delete
I love the old card designs too, and am crazy about antiques. It is very fun to window-shop at an antique store for me.

I've never really looked into collecting cards, but I can see it being challenging and a lot of fun. There are so many different ones.

Whenever I buy a deck of cards, I usually just pick out the prettiest ones at Wal-Mart. Maybe I should start paying more attention to what's out there.

    Love your lens!

Very interesting site. I'm collecting playing cards deck, jokers and single since my 15 years. I share totally your feeling when you say "made me excited about my hobby"
I have a site with more than 4000 singles displayed online: www.iCollect.be
