Playmobil Noah's Ark is one of those toys you gotta see to believe. The ark is BIG and it floats on water. Need I say more? Kids love to play in and around water, and often a few empty yogurt cups and a couple of plastic figures is all it takes to get the bathtub going. And they can play for hours. Now imagine the same bathtub floating Noah's Ark, along with all those Playmobil animals - and of course Noah himself. Naturally, your child will add all the other Playmobil figures, as well as any other figures he or she has - the ark is big enough to hold them all.

It has a working crane, a store room for bales of hay, cages in the hull, and sleeping room in the roof. Plenty of accessories! And 13 pairs of animals, of course! Hours and hours of fun! This set is HUGE! Many little pieces, many animals and the boat is huge! Yes it is a lot of money for plastic, but playmobil quality cannot be beat! Playmobil Toys are made in Europe.

Playmobil quality is evident throughout the toy. The ark is sturdy, can take a lot of beating and still float. I even read about people taking the ark to the swimming pool. I like toys that give kids opportunity to imagine and to explore the unfamiliar. Playmobil Noah's Ark certainly does that. Saving animals from extinction by flood is definitely something new and unusual for most of us. It takes children out of the everyday environment, and puts them in the realm of the unknown. Their imagination can roam freely. They can make up their own rules - I have seen lions barred from the ark because they were "mean". On the other hand, favorite toy dinosaurs made the voyage, even though the original Ark seems to have left dinosaurs out.

As with other Playmobil sets, the activities center around the two and three quarter inch figures which can bend, sit, stand, turn their head and move their arms. Plenty of them - well , actually mostly animals, come with the Noah's Ark, but as can be expected, children quickly add Playmobil men, women, children and animals from other sets. The bright colors and rounded edges are appealing to children. Playmobil is dedicated to enriching the lives of children by encouraging them to use their imaginations. The variety of toy figures both human and animal only serves to enhance play possibilities of each Playmobil set. And of course, once you get more than one Playmobil set, all these creatures and humans can interact - the possibilities are endless.

Good toys help kids with both physical and mental development. In the safety of their own home, kids can problem solve, prepare for reading, even develop social skills. Playing Playmobil Noah's Ark can also boost children's self-confidence through mastery of physical activities, and through successful animal rescues - anybody would feel good if they could say they saved elephants from extinction.
