What is Plexo?
Introducing the next big thing at Squidoo: Plexo!
Plexo is a new Squidoo tool that lets people vote on the lists you make--and vice versa. Let's say you decide to publish your nonprofit's list of the 10 best books on human rights. Plexo lets you open that up as a disussion with your online audience.
200 votes later, you have a user-generated list of the best books on human rights. People have added to your list, and re-ordered it, and given you essential marketing information. And, perhaps most interesting, while that voting has occured, 20 or 30 or 100 people have grabbed your list and put it onto their own lenses, blogs, or social networking pages.

Who Cares About Top-10 Lists?
- Your PR person does. Because journalists and bloggers do, too.
Lists--especially the kind that have been created by masses of people, are exactly the types of tid-bits that make for easy-to-digest sidebars and blog postings. In short, lists are a great packaging mechanism for selling your stories to the media. - Your market-research aficionado does.
Hiring a firm to carry out market research isn't cheap. And neither is asking your tech department to build functionality to let your supporters have their collective say on your work. In 5 minutes using Plexo, you can be ready to ask your supporters for their feedback on anything. Are they more interested in stopping global warming or deforestation? Wouldn't that be good to know as you put together your next marketing plan? - Your supporters (and therefore your newsletter editors) do.
Lists are the perfect size. They're easy to scan and fun to read--just the kind of engaging fodder your email editor is after. And aren't your marketing folks always looking for a way in which to engage the audience while asking as little of them as possible? Voting certainly fits that bill.
