PLR Articles 

How to use all the PLR articles that come with a PLR membership

Here's some things I do with my PLR articles if I don't want to build a new site or blog with them but I don't want the packs to go to waste either after getting them from a PLR membership site like PLRPro.

1- Add another silo to an existing site or another category to an existing blog you own. If you already have a blog or site on a related topic to your new PLR articles, just add to it. Building larger sites with lots of related subjects is now back in vogue rather than having lots of small tight niches.

2- Summarize the PLR articles and use them on Web 2.0 sites. Open the PLR article in Microsoft Word and go to Tools, Auto-summarize. On the option screen select "create a new document and put the summary there" and then select "summarize 50% of the document." Click go and you have a document with hopefully the major points included and all the filler removed. Read the article through and add some of your own unique filler in between the major points. Do this every other day and post it to a Web 2.0 site and use the page for link juice to one of your main sites. The whole process takes 5 minutes to do but will create a valuable link tool for you.

3- Create a free resource to attract sign ups. With 40 PLR articles you can create a great report to give away or even use the articles as a starting point to creating an ebook that you can then sell. If you have just joined a PLR membership site you will be using all your PLR articles to build new blogs or sites. If you are with PLRPro you will be busy working to their 90 day challenge plan but later when your foundation is laid don't spend more time building new blogs and sites than time spent on promoting what you have already built.

Building A Money Making Blog 

The original bloggers didn't expect to make any money from sharing their thoughts and ideas but many did, beyond their wildest dreams. Many became celebrities and the job offers poured in for top journalist positions, even book deals. Now though, a good percentage of the new blogs that are started in their thousands are born with the idea of it becoming a money making blog.

The experts tell us that to build a money making blog today means becoming the authority within a niche that is short of competition yet full of people hungry for information yet with new blogs appearing at the rate of several hundred per minute, 24 hours a day, finding that niche is becoming harder and harder.

Your option here is to skip this part by finding a product yet to be released and establish yourself as the authority blog long before the general public become of aware of it. Internet marketers go for subjects that are being searched for right now, not next year so you can get the jump on them by keeping your ears open within an industry you are interested in.

PLR articles are great for promoting an authority blog and building you fast links. Fully rewrite one a week and submit it to EzineArticles and all the other article directories.

If you are going to try and break into an already busy niche I would suggest that just as important as the competition is your passion and knowledge on the subject. Quality has a habit of rising to the top and speaking from experience, I find my best performing blogs that are in congested niches are the ones that invoke my passion and that I have a good understanding about the subject.

This becomes even more important as search engines such as Google are learning to recognize quality rather than relying on keyword analysis. Things like commenting and other web 2.0 activities such as bookmarking are all seen as votes for your blog and people interact only when they find a blog of quality.

Having said that, you would of course be mad not to at least check out your competition before devoting time and effort into starting a money making blog within a particular niche, just don't get too hung up on it that's all.

It is unlikely you will ever make money on the scale of an authority blog like say a Techcrunch but its quite reasonable for a blog with around a 1000 visitors a day to be making $10+ a day via Adsense and more with the occasional affiliate sale.

Perhaps not the get rich quick scheme you were looking for but at least a money making blog is viable and not just a pipe dream and of course, running several at once is easily done once you have them set up and running.

$10 a day is $3650 a year so it soon adds up when you have several blogs on the go at once and there is always the possibility that one will take off and start pulling the amount of traffic that allows you the chance to sell a few advertising slots.

PLR Article Packs - How Much Are They Worth To You? 

If you set up a woodworking business would you buy a hammer and saw? Would you pay to be in the phone book and local paper so people could find your business and hire you? Of course you would because if you didn't you wouldn't be in business long. So why do people wanting to make money on the internet think they can succeed without spending a dime?

They will spend an entire day submitting an article to the various directories when there is a tool available here that does it in minutes. They will spend weeks creating enough content to launch a small blog and consider it as being done for free without giving a thought to the amount of time spent doing the work. Your time is valuable and it has a price.

As an example let's break down exactly what a PLR article pack is worth to me and how much it costs me. PLRPro supplies 11 PLR article packs for $97 so I make that about $9 a pack. Each pack contains 40 articles so if my math is right, that's about 22 cents an article.

I can write a 450 word article in about an hour with the research. Something like this article, where I know the subject and don't have to do any research will take no more than half an hour. So, if I write 2 an hour that makes my time worth 44 cents an hour. In other words, to write my own articles I consider my value to be worth less than a famous rap singer (50 Cents).

That's without taking into consideration the fact that each pack has the keyword research included with a spreadsheet showing the top 1000 long tail phrases, predicted results, Google KEI figures etc. It also includes a spreadsheet showing the best performing and best paying affiliate programs from within the article packs niche and to top it off nicely, it includes professionally created headers to use should you be creating a new blog or site with the pack rather than adding the articles to an existing site.

Doing all the above research and creating the graphics (finding a suitable graphic to pinch on google images) would take at least half a day but I spend about that rewriting all my PLR articles so that evens out about right.

If you are reading this thinking "oh yea, easy for you to pay $97 a month, you make $500 a day, what's $97 a month to you?" you would be looking at this all wrong. I make $500 a day BECAUSE I pay that to PLRPro, I don't pay it to them because I make $500.

TBH I spend a lot more than that on various other services but hopefully you get my point. By using a professional service, I was able to very quickly install 11 highly targeted niche blogs each and every month and my time was free to concentrate on promotion work which is where the money really is.

Until I took the plunge and made a commitment by making a financial investment, I wasn't making anything. Once I started looking at my activities as a business, delegating my time effectively, purchasing tools that genuinely made my life easier and using professional services that were cost effective, my income shot up.

You will run at a loss for the first few months you are paying for your PLR articles but its amazing how being in the red can focus your efforts. Making that first financial commitment will be why you make it as an internet marketer but without that commitment your chances of success will considerably limited.

One of the only bad things about making my living online is what to say when friends I haven't seen for a while ask me what I do.

How To Rewrite Your PLR Articles 

If you do nothing else with your PLR article packs, you must at the very minimum change the titles of the articles. Ideally though, if you want to get the best out of your PLR articles, you should make them unique to your blog or website. All users of PLR articles know this, but surprisingly few actually do it.

These are the methods I use to rewrite my PLR articles.

The Quick Fix.

I have a PLR article pack about dogs and included is an article written around the keyword phrase "dog grooming". Using the search and replace function in my favorite text editor, I swap all references of "dog grooming" for "German Shepherd grooming." I now have a unique article on grooming German Shepherds instead of sharing an article with other website owners about dog grooming.

Repeat the process with the other articles, ie. change "home made dog food" to "home made German Shepherd food" "caring for your dog" to "caring for your German Shepherd" and you have a unique article pack on a highly targeted niche within a niche.

Total time on a PLR article pack of 40: About one hour.

The Partial Rewrite.

I open the article in my favorite text editor and read the first paragraph. I then rewrite the first and second sentence by paraphrasing and then change any prominent words in the rest of the article using the thesaurus function, being careful not to replace any of the keywords.

Example of paraphrasing: Using Notepad I open the article and after reading the opening paragraph, I simply paraphrase the first couple of sentences so that they read completely new compared to the original. I finish the rewrite by quickly going through the rest of the article and using the thesaurus, change a splattering of words (not the keywords) throughout the body.

Total time on rewrite: I can do an article in well under 5 minutes now, although slightly over when I first started.

The Full Rewrite.

I read the entire article and then rewrite the first and last paragraphs by paraphrasing the sentences.

I find it easiest to rewrite the paragraphs over the top of the old one's. I then finish by using the thesaurus to replace plenty of words within the body of the article.

Total time spent on a PLR article: I spend no more than 10 minutes on each article but allow 15 when you first start using this method.

Summary

Which method you use to rewrite your PLR articles will depend on what you are using them for and how much time you are prepared to spend doing the work. You will find you do them quicker if you set yourself a time for each rewrite and just stop working on the article once the time is up and move on to the next one.

I've had great results with each of these methods, far better than when I first started and was using PLR article packs "as is." By spending just a little time on your PLR content, you set yourself apart from the crowd and it is a hell of a lot easier to rewrite articles than it is to write them from scratch, especially if it is on a subject you no little about.

Not All PLR Article Packs Are Created Equally 

Choose your provider of PLR articles very carefully.

You will find PLR article packs on just about any niche subject. They are either sold as a one off or as a monthly membership where you get several PLR article packs every month.

The first and most important thing you need to know before purchasing or signing up is how many of the packs are being distributed?

If the packs are distibuted freely, or for next to nothing, you can bet 1000's of other webmasters have already used the content on their sites. This means the articles are worthless or even worse, could harm your site because of duplicate content.

The best PLR article packs will limit the distribution to somewhere around 200 if it is a monthly membership. They work with the knowledge that only half of each pack will be used and that those used will be altered by some degree as their members are experienced and understand they should at least alter the title, intro and end paragraph.

If the PLR article packs are sold individually, a good provider will state how many they are prepared to sell and how many so far have been sold. These types of pack sales usually limit sales to around 350 as it is very rare for them to sell the full quota.

PLR Quality

The second important thing you need to consider is the writing quality of the PLR article packs. Many suppliers use cheap labor from the sub continent where English is a second language.

These articles are generally of poor quality and will require extensive re-writing. It is a lot quicker to re-write than create from scratch but it will take you much longer to do the work on a poorly written article than on a well written piece.

Why You Should Always Rewrite Your PLR Articles 

You've acquired some PLR content but just how do you use it to best advantage while avoiding roadblocks? Search engines are now trying to feed surfers highly relevant results. To do that, along with other things, they have to scan the content on your page.

If you think that having the same content on two different sites gives you two chances to be ranked high in the results, think again. They got wise to that trick a while back.

Search engines have complicated algorithms that have proved difficult to reverse engineer. But one thing is certain: if the exact same content is used across multiple websites, you can suffer a duplicate content penalty. Rewriting PLR content is the best way to deal with that problem. It takes a little more work, but it's a sure fire winner for your site.

It's difficult to know exactly how much to change, but even changing only 10% of the content can easily put you in the clear. Out of a 500 word article, that's only 50 words - less than one paragraph so its pretty easy to do.

Tailoring content has another advantage. You can give your site a unique 'flavor' by modifying the PLR article to something that sounds more like how you would write. For example, if its written in the "we" sense, change it to "I" and visa versa.

When you do that with a number of articles, you are guaranteed to differentiate your site from your competitor. That keeps vistors and customers loyal, because then you are the only one in the world with exactly that content. After all, there are lots of bands in the world, but there's only one UberRoom.

You could avoid the duplicate content issue entirely by writing every article from scratch. But that is time consuming and not everyone has the interest or ability. To run a successful site, you have lots of promoting to do every day. Whatever time you spend writing, you're not doing promoting.

Starting from a blank page is tough for most of us. It's a lot easier to re-write something than to write from just a topic idea. Changing a phrase here or an example there is easy and the writing that's already on the page stimulates you to think of alternatives.

Quality counts, too. You may not have the ability or interest to write great content, content that attracts visitors and backlinks. Even if you can, it takes time to do well. If you do not take the time, you will end up with content that is not polished. That turns people off your message. Not a good business strategy.

It is much quicker and easier to modify good quality content to avoid a duplicate content penalty and make it your own than it is to repair rubbish. You can polish quality silver and have it shining in just a few minutes. If its rusty metal though, you will be at it all day!
