Private Label Rights Products in 2009 and Beyond

PLR, or private label rights, content has been the mainstay of internet marketers' businesses for the last several years. We've largely moved past the let's-throw-500-articles-per-month-at-you to the more sensible options of tighter-focused membership websites and plenty of a-la-carte PLR product sites to choose from.

While PLR content is still a super-important part of many internet marketers' business plans -- how can we use PLR content in 2009 and beyond to get the most out of it? That's what this lens is about -- using private label rights content effectively.

Looking at PLR content for what it is -- a business tool

For some reason, a lot of people tend to under-use, as well as under-estimate, their private label content and the power it wields. They look at it as 'content' -- fodder for their blogs, something to bundle together and make an eBook or report, or something to give out to their subscribers in the form of a newsletter.

Yes -- PLR content is all of these things. However, there are dynamics beyond the obvious; with a little bit of tweaking, a little bit of planning, and the wherewithal to follow through -- using private label rights products is a fantastic shortcut to a long-term, and potentially lucrative, business strategy.

One way to use PLR content to enhance your business

There are many good aspects to private label rights content; probably the most noteworthy is that PLR articles and reports are generally cheap. Really cheap in many cases.

Now, you could look at this fact (that PLR content is cheap), and think something like, "this is a great way to get low-cost content for my website". Which, this is true. However, you could also think something like this, "I'll buy some PLR content, hire somebody to rewrite it and post it to a blog while I work on this other product here."

Honestly, with all of the people online these days trying to make another dollar to stave off hunger or to quench their vehicle's parched gas tank's thirst -- labor is cheap. PLR content predominantly runs under $3 per article -- in a lot of places, it's around $1 per article or less. If we split the difference -- it's $1.66ish per article. Which, I think that's a bit high for the average. In any case -- if you hire a re-writer to make the content mostly unique, and maybe pay them a staple to post it on a blog for you -- you're probably "out" maybe $3-$5 per mostly-unique article, that is good-or-better quality, which is subsequently posted to a blog for you... while you're working on building your business.

Yea, there's a little bit of outsourcing in here, and $3-$5 per article is a lot for some people -- but if you start out with high-quality PLR content, hire a competent re-writer, and get somebody to post the re-written content for you -- you've started a very good thing. Once you get the kinks worked out, and you have a system in place -- this is a scalable business plan -- and your personal involvement does not grow proportionally to your volume of business, either.

This is just one outside-the-box method of using PLR content to enhance your online business. When you go to purchase your next PLR article package, private label e-course, or PLR eBook -- remember -- PLR products are more than just 'content' -- they're tools for your business.
