Importance of plumbing

Plumbing problems like blocked toilet or kitchen sink may sound very small, but they create huge chaos in our lives. Just think how you will function without using your toilet or washing dishes in your kitchen sink? We have gotten so used to all these facilities, that it is impossible for us to even imagine living without them even for few hours.

Besides blockage, leakage in pipes is also a serious problem. Most of us have gone through this problem. Sometimes because of environmental factors like snow, extreme heat, hard water etc., the pipes get damaged and start leaking. If the pipe is over the ground, then it is easier to detect the leakage, but if it is hidden inside a wall or under the ground, the problem becomes much serious. Hidden pipe leakages can become "slow poison" for your house.

As we all know, water can be extremely damaging to any structure. By seeping into the walls, it can not only damage their beauty, but can also weaken them. And, if that seeps into the foundation of the house, then it can weaken the whole structure. If it goes unchecked for a long time, the house can also develop molds and fungi, due to excess moisture. This can prove to be a huge health risk.

Not only the floor, even roof can be damaged because of leaking pipes and blocked toilets. This problem is very common in buildings with multiple floors. The water from pipes and sewage seeping in the roof can weaken it. Obviously, a weak roof is the worst danger to the safety of you and your family. You simply can't afford to have this dangerous risk lurking over them (literally).

Plus, most first time homeowners don't realize the fact that ignoring plumbing maintenance of their house reduces its value. If they plan to sale the house in future, they must make sure that the no leakage or flooding is left to be aggravated to a point that it is detectable by the prospective buyers of the house. If the buyers see that the house has had leakages or other plumbing problems in the past, they won't pay you the asking price (would you pay, if you were at their place?).

Thus, never be careless about the plumbing problems in your house. After all, you have bought it with your hard earned money. But 'taking care' doesn't mean that you take ranch and start fixing every plumbing problem yourself. Most people think that it is very easy to fix a pipe or drain, but it is much more complicated than it looks. The job of plumbing should be left on a qualified and experienced professional. Otherwise, you might end up doing more damage to your pipes, toilets or hot water service, then fixing it.
