Plymouth Fury

Chrysler made the Plymouth Fury from 1956 to 1978. The main objective in making the Fury was the need for a "halo model," which meant the Plymouth Fury was sold for top dollar and was intended to show off Chryslers talents and resources and to bring customers into the showroom.

At first the Plymouth Fury was only off white in color and came with gold anodized aluminum trim until 1958. Then in 1960 the Plymouth Fury convertible option was offered and sales continued to increase. Sales increased through the early 1960s but than some changes like removing the tailfins and shortening the car caused the sales to drop off a bit.

The Sport Fury was introduced in 1962 and was popular. Ward Cleaver in "Leave it to beaver" was driving a 1962 Plymouth Fury.
Then in 1965, Fury I, II and III were assembled. Plymouth Fury I was mainly used for police and taxis. The Fury III included the Sport models that came loaded with special features like automatic transmission, stereo, vinyl tops and more.
The most deluxe model of all was the Plymouth VIP and had all the loaded features of the Sport plus the vinyl tops, beautiful upholstered interiors, walnut dashboards and much more.
