Pocahontas is Disney's Native American princess. Her character is based on a real story of a Native American daughter of a chieftain (with the same name) who defies the odds and leaves her tribe with the Englishman John Smith. True to Disney fashion, their version of the story is highly fictionalized and it worked, because Disney fans all over the world turned out to love her just as much as the rest of the Disney Princesses.

Donning a Pocahontas Halloween costume in an otherwise dark and ghastly occasion will make you the light of any party..

Becoming Pocahontas this Halloween is easier than you think!

The story of Pocahontas and John is that of war, love, and peace. Their conflicting ethnic and social backgrounds amounted to nothing when placed beside their want for peace and their feelings for each other. Besides, the talking tree was there to give them guidance.

Although they never really ended up together in Disney's version (John left to heal his gun-shot wound and Pocahontas stayed with her family) their love and loyalty for each other and their families was a more than enough testament for a Disney they lived happily ever after ending.

The great thing about the Pocahontas costume is that it not only stands for something hopeful and honorable, it's also fun to play around with. Meaning, you don't have to follow her get-up by the book (maybe you're not up for walking barefoot), you can make it as conservative or as sexy as you want it to be. You can choose getting one with pretty long-sleeves and a long skirt, or you can get a shorter one - it's up to you and your style. Just make sure you've got the frills hanging down on some parts of your costume.

Why you will have a great time at a Halloween party dressed as Pocahontas

If you want to have a great outfit but still be able to spend the entire night having fun instead of maintaining your costume, wearing a Pocahontas costume is it. It's not just sexy; it was completely built for comfort too. You'd easily be able to run around the woods with it and befriend talking willows along the way. Who knows, you might meet a modern John Smith too who'd be willing to take a bullet for your father in case of a foreign attack. Now that's a Disney ending if you ever ask for one!
