History Of Pocket Bike Racing

Minimoto, aka Mini GP, aka pocket bike racing is gaining popularity worldwide. These 1/4 scale miniature motorcycles have been around since the 1950's, and during the 1990's in Europe these mini bikes became the racing craze they are today. The sport's popularity soared thanks a the low-tech approach of production and the relatively inexpensive cost of racing these mini machines.

Today, pocket bikes (also known as pocket rockets) are raced on go-kart tracks by riders of all ages. Entry level bikes make about 2.5 horsepower and achieve top speeds of about 20 miles per hour. More powerful 1/2 scale super pocket bikes make upwards of 15 horsepower and can reach speeds in excess of 70 miles per hour.
