Poem - A Lovely Cup of Tea

Ranked #2,313 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #93,677 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

This is my poem about Tea - all kinds of tea

The word for "tea" is universal - shai in China, Char in India, Chai in Turkey and the Middle East, and it is not uncommon to hear people say a Cuppa Char in Britain - harking back to the travellers and mariners who tasted tea in foreign lands and brought some back home with them.

I have a lovely collection of tea paraphernalia, and am showing it off on this web page. There's also a Quiz "What Do You Know About Tea?"

Important!

N.B.: IMPORTANT REMINDER!!

When Making Tea, Remember That the Water Must Be Boiling

On no account put the milk in first

- this would cool the boiling hot water and the teabag would not brew properly

If you are using a teapot, make sure you warm it first with hot water

If you are making it with a teabag in a cup, put the teabag in first, then pour boiling water on it

I am selling lots of used Poetry Books on my web page Vintage Poetry Books

There are several poetry books of "Modern" poetry from the first part of the 20th Century, including several containing very moving War poems. You will find old favourites and many which you may not have heard of before. There is also a a book of Dante's poetry translated and a small book of favourite Latin poetry. I certainly studied many Latin poems in my youth, but can't say I recognize them now : my favourite was Catullus, who was a lawyer as well as a scholar - they are not mutually exclusive you know! Some of the books are sensuously bound in soft leather, and one in tartan fabric.

What a very nice poem. I love peppermint tea with Honey and half N Half (or the creamers they use at restaurants). I love to write poetry myself. Part of your mug shots from flicker are not showing so I thought I'd tell you. Otherwise, great lens.

Having read this, on the advice of my poetry tutor, I can highly reccomend it.
"Assembling a diverse mix of contemporary poets-Mary Oliver, W.H. Auden, Maya Angelou, Billy Collins, Louise Gluck, Gwendolyn MacEwen, Rita Dove, and hundreds more-Staying Alive is a unique anthology that illuminates the vital force of our humanity, the passion of our aspirations, the power of our spirituality. From the enigma of death to the sweetness of friendship, these poems speak to life's mysteries and consolations and help us navigate the most trying times in recent memory. Staying Alive is already an astonishing best-seller in the United Kingdom, where it has gained a wide-ranging audience."
