Welcome to Amorous Confessions!

Love is quite elusive and complex. In my almost three decades on Earth, I have experienced love in its various facets. Just like the nature of human beings, love also evolves either for good or bad. In its onset we cherish the tingling feeling in our stomachs which make us smile and laugh. Our lives in an instant are magnified, inspired, colored, and adored. Being in love gives us the notion that we can overcome any hindrances and can conquer all that gets on our way. It is like a breath of fresh air. It seems like we are existing in a different wavelength. We feel like a soaring eagle covering the clear and blue skies. But, love like a flower needs to be attended to. It necessitates constant nourishment, cultivation, and devotion. When love is taken for granted, it withers swiftly leaving our hearts breaking, burning, and aching. Love is a two-way highway. We venture down the lover's route with the assurance that our partner adheres to the implicit contract between two beings coupled in hearts. However, we must be vigilant for those who make a game out of it. They are those who betray, forsake, and wreck the very foundation of love.

"This I Vow"

This poem is heartily dedicated to my husband. Though I wrote this a year after our wedding, this vow still holds true in my heart.

Today I see our perfect haven
Just you and I and Him in heaven
Side by side each day and night
Hand in hand towards the light

I will exclusively walk with thee
My love for you will forever be
This vow I give will always stand
Our union displayed all the land

Accede to the throne of my heart
A novel kingdom we shall start
Let this ring be our bond
For love, honor, and beyond

Complete marriage needs more than bread
Crossroads and trials also lie ahead
To God I pray for faith and strength
And for our love to see its final length.

"Where a Scathed Heart is a Euphemism"

I wrote this piece after I called off an emotionally draining and mentally exhausting relationship with a person who has a wandering mind, body, and spirit. :(

Think you I am a rare flower,
Whose beauty is beyond mesmerizing.
I let you triumph my lover,
Since your good intentions are heart-warming.

Think you I represent paradise,
You place me tenderly in your heart.
From there I promise you I won't rise.
You caress me like a piece of art.

I trace your infidelity as time marches.
Still I stick with you despite the pain.
I blossom for you even though my heart aches;
Hoping that in the end your loyalty I will gain.

Promise you I need not worry and that you're sorry.
Then you proceed to savor not one flower but two.
You push me to the dark and let me wither slowly.
Don't you think I yearn for sunlight and water too?

I hurt and it is you that my heart scorns.
It isn't easy to rise and fix what you rip.
What once your gentle flower will grow thorns.
I'll watch you suffer till your heartbeat starts to skip.

Why scream when you consider me as mute and deaf?
Why beg when you assume my heart is made of stone?
Why reason when you think I am a stupid leaf?
Hush my love for you are now a frozen limestone.

"Spring Water"

When I think of spring water I feel cool, soft, and my being fluid. Love is a lot like that. Its trickles of passion soothes my heart and my soul. Sadly, love in its very existence can cease leaving your heart hard & frozen.

We are just little kids fetching water
To satisfy our thirst and our craving
At the end of the day we scurry fast
In the hope to be first at the spring

Our everyday chatter is crammed
With smiles, laughter, and tears
In this unpretentious rendezvous
We speak of our dreams and fears

While a decade and countless sunsets roll on
Our wings show color and are getting strong
We hover at different times and varied avenues
Forgetting the rendezvous we used to long

I call to mind that bittersweet, starlit night
When I find you once more at the spring water
You seem troubled and strangely hushed
As if me who used to know is now a stranger

Oh how it pains to have you near me
Knowing you're so far
Oh how it shatters my heart and soul
To only love you from afar

I do not dream of one day crossing your path
For the pain I cannot bear to see you with her
But please grant this wish of my withered heart
Keep our memories forever like that of spring water.

"I Have a Crush on You"

I was eighteen when I thought about this poem but did not actually write it until 3 years later.

I adore the way you smile
I like that you are shy
I enjoy the way you walk
To your way, I will always look

Your presence makes me want to freeze
Your glance makes me want to melt
Oh, how I love the way you talk
To endear you is my eternal oath

The idea of sleep makes me want to weep
Before I close my eyes I see your face
When I wake up I think of you
Simply because I have a crush on you

My everlasting sweetest thoughts of you
Inspires me to look forward for tomorrow
How a delight just to be near you
Man, don't I have a crush on you!
