Poems, Poetry and The Haiku

I love writing poems almost as much as I love reading them. I just had to share with others my love of Great Poetry, Famous Poets and my own attempts at Prose.

My Favorite types of poetry are Haiku, Sonnets and free verse.  The following is a Haiku that I wrote recently.  Although it does conform to the rules of Haiku and is about nature; I like to experiment with different topics such as love and romance.

Appreciating Poetry

Coming Full Circle

I first fell in love with Poetry when I was a teen. I loved writing and it was an outlet for expressing my feelings. But I don't think that I fully appreciated Poetry until I read the poems of other people -- famous poets and those not so famous -- that I began to understand how profound they were. A poet chooses his or her words carefully. Each word builds strength on the one before it until the reader is left truly moved to their very core.

There are so many Famous Poets who have left us with a legacy of great poetry like William Shakespeare, Robert Frost and the unforgettable Edgar Allen Poe. Each of these Poets has their own unique approach to writing poetry but all have mesmerized and captured our hearts.

So to truly appreciate poetry is to read it. To love it is to be inspired. To inspire is to write it for others to read -- Coming Full Circle.

    The whispering leaves
Weave a web of black darkness

Here is one of my best one's...enjoy
    my email is...

    Cry

He has the edge of me, the quill,
and the waves of prolong prose.
The hands move, they write with no
purpose but to disappear into death minds.

    Meanings of grief,
turning into dark stone, tear drop become
ice drops, reach the end, and break
    into dry whispers of cry.
