Saving Polar Bears throughout the world

Polar Bears International (PBI) is dedicated to the worldwide conservation of the polar bear through and education.

PBI supports research projects that benefit the world's polar bears. PBI's low overhead is covered by gift shop sales and administrative grants, so every dollar donated goes directly to key polar bear projects.

PBI's educational efforts include a number of innovative projects collectively known as the Adventure Learning Program where every fall students from 4 different countries travel to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada to explore a range of issues relating to polar bears, humans, and the environment.

PBI's educational effort includes working not only with students and researchers but also with the zoos with polar bears to educate the public.

How Polar Bears International is Helping Save Polar Bears

What donations go for

Your donations go:

1. To scientists to collect vital data from collaring studies in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas and elsewhere.

2. To provide Arctic experience for zookeepers so they truly understand the lives of these magnificent animals.

3. For groundbreaking work on polar bear physiology like the recent polar bear hearing studies and ongoing research to determine the minimum distance needed to protect maternal dens from human activity.

To help with this worthy work, you can make donations by clicking, YES, I Will Help!

Take 5 minutes to help PBI save polar bears

Here's how...

In just 5 minutes, you can make a meaningful contribution to the PBI right now. And it's FREE. Just build a lens (what Squidoo calls a web page). It doesn't have to be about polar bears. It can be about anything: your favorite zoo polar bear, a hobby, recipe, travel location, movie, book, or, well, you name it.

Your page will help get the PBI's message in front of thousands of new supporters. It will also generate royalties that go straight to the PBI, every month, forever. All you have to do is set the lens' royalty setting to go to Polar Bears International.

Students acknowledged for work to benefit polar bears
The students are finalists in a national contest sponsored by Polar Bear International in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. The teens have been working for months to educate the community about ways to "power down" and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels in an effort to preserve the polar bears' arctic habitat, which many believe is being destroyed by global warming. They are to travel to San Diego this month for the final leg of the competition.
