How Good is the Polar f6 Heart Rate Monitor?

The Polar f6 heart rate watch monitor is a great mid featured exercise watch that has alot of the features you would expect from a decent heart rate watch without the huge price tag found in the more expensive heart rate watches.

For me the two essentials in any exercise watch needs to be an accurate easy to use heart rate monitor and a way to keep track of how hard I am exercising by showing the calories burned. The Polar f6 does all this and alot more, making this a great watch.

The techniques and sample running schedules he presents are right on the dot, his information (which he draws from a variety of professional sources) is correct, and his writing style is very entertaining. Since I've started his book I've shaved a minute and a half off of my 5k race time, I'm running more often and farther, and my shin splints haven't acted up in the 8 months".

Does the Garmin Forerunner Compare To A Polar Heart Rate f6?

Garmin Forerunners are very popular heart rate monitors and come in many different versions however I decided to choose to compare the polar f6 with the Garmin forerunner 305 mainly from a price standpoint, since each cost roughly the same, give or take a few dollars.

First I will say that this heart rate watch overall has a few more features then the Polar f6 however in my view this is a big clunky exercising watch. Does this heart rate monitor watch compare with the Polar f6. Sure in every respect, not only does the the Garmin forerunner series all provide accurate heart rates and exercising zones, this watch also provides a calorie expenditure as well. What does this watch do that the Polar f6 cannot. Well any of the garmin forerunners provide a simple GPS function so that you can track, how far you've run, pace etc and map it out and keep track at home makes this a full featured heart rate watch.

However, the downside... It's big and clunky and if you don't care or need a GPS function and just looking for a heart rate watch with decent features then you really do not need this one. However, if you do want a full featured exercising watch with GPS functions then you really should consider the Garmin series of forerunners.

Water Is Essential In Work Outs

The problem with most water bottle carriers is that they take some time to get used to and need adjustment in order to find the right spot and not have the thing bouncing up and down while your working out or jogging. So you do need to patience to get used to one and it can take a few runs to get the hang of it, but once you do it sure beats carrying your bottle in your hand or worse yet not have any water when you might need it during those long runs.

I had the water bottle full and put a cell phone and ID in the zippered pocket in case of an emergency. Most of the time I can put the water bottle back into it's pouch with only one hand. The first run I didn't use the goo flask. Instead I put a couple of packets of goo in the flask pouch. I realized the purpose of the goo flask on that run%u2026.Overall it's a good product and I'll continue to use it for long runs."
