I did, as a dispatcher, but never wore a uniform, or any identifying markings. It wasn't until I learned that 90 percent of the town owned police scanners, and that listening to them was the favored form of nighttime entertainment, that I stopped having daily thoughts of wearing a tin foil hat when I went out to keep them from reading my mind! :) The New Jersey accent probably made it easier as well! Thanks for the scanner lens - good info here!
