To Party or Not to Party: Political Parties, Fun Parties, and Fun Things to Do about Political Parties

We are finally in the midst of the straw polls, caucuses, and primaries leading up to election day, November 2012, and I expect that the closer it gets, the further away it will feel. The candidates have already been at it for a full seven months. Yeah, they have, I marked the first outbreak of campaigning on my calendar last July and started counting.

To help you endure, here are some suggestions for dealing with the continuing voter hunting political season, whomever you might support.

Leave Me Alone! Part One

Deposit Your Campaign Ads Here

Deposit Your Campaign Ads Here Postcard

Deposit Your Campaign Ads Here Postcard

For anyone still suffering from political ad hangover or trauma from previous elections, vent! Tell the politicians, the political parties, and all others where to deposit their campaign ads in a somewhat politically correct manner. At the Zazzle store of Marilyn's Creative Pursuits you can find t-shirts, tote bags, bumper stickers, or even a postcard you can send to make your opinion known.

Leave Me Alone! Part Two

Don't Pollute My TV

Protest the never-ending stream of televised political ads with Don't Pollute My TV with Your Campaign Ads bumper stickers, t-shirts, hats, buttons, and other products, including another one of those handy, outspoken postcards also from Marilyn's Creative Pursuits on Zazzle.

Or, You Could Scream

Uncle Sam The Scream

Uncle Sam The Scream Customize Your Own

Uncle Sam The Scream Customize Your Own
You could scream -- loud and long -- at the site of the next campaign ad, lawn sign, button, or debate with each candidate sticking to their pre-set answers, whether or not the answer actually answers the question. This delirious design from the Zazzle store of YesPoliticsSuck replaces the anxiety-ridden screamer in Edvard Munch's famous expressionist paintng, The Scream, with an equally anxiety ridden Uncle Sam.

The t-shirt includes a quote from Ronald Reagan below the adaptation of the Munch painting :

"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first."

Poor old Uncle Sam has reasons upon reasons for a screaming fit.

From Screaming to Laughing

Independent Mind LOL

Independent Mind LOL Mug

Pushed completely beyond your limits by the political theater of the absurd? If you've been pushed beyond the angst-ridden scream, the only response might be to retreat into the permanent laugh. Through their store on Zazzle, LibertyManiacs lets you reveal your choice with their "Independent Mind LOL" design and the similar "Multiple Partisan Choice" design.

You Could Dream about Banning Politicians

No Politicians

No Politicians Hat

No Politicians Hat

No Politicians Hat

No Politicians Hat

You can imagine a world in which politicians simply do not exist. In addition to their "Independent Mind LOL" and "Multiple Partisan Choice" designs, LibertyManiacs on Zazzle offers these mens' and womens' embroidered caps with the silhouette of a politician enclosed in a circle with the diagonal bar across it. If you take the circle as the number "0", the design neatly confines the politician to a void containing nothing. If a politician is shouting inside of a void containing nothing, is there anything for anyone to hear?

Those Televison Campagn Ads We Love to Hate

What to do while they are on. What to do with them.

Do you stay in the same room with the television when a campaign ad is on? Do you run screaming or laughing from the room? Do you count the inaccuracies and misrepresentations? Do you write down the insults as inspiration in case you ever have to speak at someone's roast?

Why you would want to do this to your best friend, I don't know, but you could run your puppy for office. A world run on puppy priorities certainly wouldn't be a bad thing. Just be careful that the Humane Society and PETA don't come after you for cruelty to animals.
Wislander's store on Zazzle offers this Puppy Politician design. In addition to the cap, tote bag, and travel mug, the design is also available on t-shirts. On Zazzle, you have your choice of tote bag, mug, and t-shirt styles because all can be customized.

The Grateful Dead had the right idea; they elected a pig and when he lost they BBQ'd that sucka.
