Political polls and humor

The term 'political polls' has come to be accepted as meaning 'surveys taken before an election to gain an indication of how the candidates are going'. 'Election polls' is still in common usage as 'the place where the voting is conducted'. But the origin of these terms resides in the work 'polls', and according to the dictionary, that is 'the part of the head that grows hair, or the scalp'. The phrase 'political polls' was first coined because a voting booth was 'where the heads were counted'. And therein resides the true key for predicting who REALLY will win the next election. The pivotal factor is on the head. A political candidate with the right polls will emerge victorious, regardless of what his stance is on any supposedly pivotal political issue.
