Posters Really Work

One Dog's Story

Hey ya'll,

My name is Krystal. I joined the Rapid Response Team when I came to live with my new human, Kaye. She works with the Polly Klaas® Foundation.

I can personally speak to how important it is that missing children get found fast, since I was once a missing doggie myself.

I had a pretty good human to begin with, but one day I was suddenly lost and all by myself.

I had to find my own food--lots of times the only things I could find to eat were twigs and branches from trees. Also, there were lots of leaves from paw paw trees, so I ate those too. Now Kaye feeds me well. But I still grab a bite when we are out walking, just in case.

The worst part was that all the really big dogs who were also on their own didn't help me. No, no, no, they actually went out of their way to scare me and take my food away. They didn't even let me sleep in any of the nice warm places they found. I only weigh 11 pounds, so you can just imagine how terrifying it was! I'm now going to obedience school with Kaye to learn new ways to get along with big dogs, but it's not easy.

Did ya'll know I'm an Internet doggie? Yes, indeed. The Internet is marvelous, and it makes all sorts of miracles possible. Let me tell ya'll about my miracles.

The first miracle was that a human was driving by and stopped to rescue me. What a wonderful human! She took me to the local shelter. Another miracle was when the shelter took my picture and posted it on www.petfinder.com.

Yes ma'am, that's what happened. My new human found me on the Internet. Just like those missing children whose pictures are on www.pollyklaas.org, and whose posters we get to distribute around town.

How we distribute posters of missing children.

So here's what we do. I'm usually on Kaye's lap while we're on the computer--OK, lots of times I'm snoozing...But when an email comes in from the Rapid Response Team, I tell Kaye to print up some posters. Aaarrff! Aaarrff!

Then comes the good part, we get to go driving around town putting up the missing child posters! We go to post offices, laundromats, and cafés--anywhere that has a bulletin board, that's where we go. I love driving around town!

My human found me through the Internet, and I'm so glad we get to help find missing children through the Internet as well. I love getting those miracle emails telling us that a child has been found. What a wonderful life.

Some of My Favorite Things Are...

  • Distributing missing child posters all over town, as an eVolunteer with the Rapid Response Team of the Polly Klaas Foundation.
  • Going for a walk in the shopping center and getting petted by all the wonderful people.
  • Going for walks with Kaye in the woods. There are lots of great smells and sometimes she lets me dig! Hot dog!
  • Chewing on my toys at home.
  • Running all over the house chasing my chew toys. What a blast!
  • Playing fetch. Oh puppy, I could do that forever.
  • Eating--at anytime--I guess this really should be number 1!

Good lens. Really your idea of leaving missing children posters is superb and really works. But the role of Private Investigators in abducting cases is also equally important. Thanks for your effort and sharing the information. I visited an informative site about Licensed Private Investigators on Licensed Private Investigators Please visit this site for more information about Licensed Private Investigators.
