What the Polly Klaas Foundation does to help keep children safe...

The Polly Klaas® Foundation is a national nonprofit that helps find missing children, prevents children from going missing, and promotes laws like Amber Alert that help keep children safe.

We have helped more than 6,500 families of missing children, counseling them on ways to find their children and work with law enforcement. We make and distribute posters of missing children for these families, and have a national eVolunteer force that distributes posters of missing children in their communities. Our hotline has been answered 24/7 since 1993.

We publish and distribute child safety information to people around the world. Our free Child Safety Kit and Internet Safety Kit can be ordered or downloaded online.

We also promote child safety legislation like Amber Alerts.

The Polly Klaas® Foundation is dedicated to the safety of all children.

I created this lens to support the Polly Klaas® Foundation...

You can help too! I hope you will stop Squidoo surfing for just a few short minutes? Take a moment to become aware of horrifying problem that not only plagues the United States, but the entire world. This problem is not a new problem, but a problem that is escalating, and becoming worst year after year.... What is this problem?

The problem of children being abducted, taken from their loved ones, and the very life they have come to know on this earth.  Most  never to be seen or heard from again.  As a rule I make all efforts to keep my Squidoo lenses light, and fun. I don't feel one has to become overly graphic to get a point across.

Unfortunately with the subject of child abuse, and or child abduction, Its hard not to be graphic. Children around the world are being not only being abducted, but exploded for the sick pleasures of an ever growing minority.

Children are defenseless when it comes to taking the necessary measures to stop these predators.  We as adults however can initiate measures to educate our children about the problems they could someday face, at the hands of a stranger. We can also help put safe guards in place, such as the Amber Alert system, by  supporting organizations like the Polly Klaas Foundation.

Please  consider how you might be able to help with this horrible problem?  Well - you can help by supporting programs like the Polly Klaas Foundation. Please take time to review the Polly Klaas Web Site. http://www.pollyklaas.org/help/index.html

Who Took My Baby?

"Nearly 80% of all abducted children in the U.S. are kidnapped by a family member...
You can help prevent it"!

When a child is abducted by a parent or family member, the trauma can leave scars that never heal. Believe it or not: 78 percent of all child abductions occur when a parent or family member kidnaps their own children, and yet this crime is not even a felony in every state. Today, you can be a part of the solution. Take action to make sure that every state passes the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) - a law that prevents parental abductors from obtaining custody orders outside of the child's 'home state' and gives law enforcement authorities new powers to help prevent family abductions.

Family Members And Kidnapping...
What is Family Abduction?

Family abduction happens when a family member, usually a parent, kidnaps and conceals a child for any length of time. It is a serious crime that happens to over 203,000 families a year and yet it is not even considered a felony in every state. The emotional, psychological and physical impact on children is often so significant that family abduction is considered a form of child endangerment.
