Mirynda and Kayleen

My children Mirynda and Kayleen were abducted by their non-custodial mother (Tanya Brown) on March 18, 2005 and have not been located. Working with local law enforcement to locate them has been a taxing experience for my family and myself. A child who is abducted by their "parent" (even though they do not have legal or physical custody) do not get the same effort from law enforcement as a child who is abducted by a stranger. The general public does not look at it the same either. The most common response is, at least they are with the other parent!

This needs to change! Any child who is abducted, whether the abductor is a family member or a stranger, should have the same rights in being located. The psychological effects on these children are tremendous and are told many terrible things by the abducting parent about the other parent. They are sometimes told the other parent does not love them anymore. Or worse, they are sometimes told the other parent has died.

There are many things these children are told and they end up living their lives on the run, moving from one place to another. The abductor is sometimes helped by family members in various ways. I have discovered that it is okay for a family member to know the wherabouts of the abductor and get away with it. They are not required by law to say anything and law enforcement will not do anything about it unless it can be proven the family member is helping the abductor hide or helping them financially.

In my quest to locate my children, I hired a private investigator in the city in which Tanya has family. The PI has gained a huge amount of information and continues on a daily basis in locating my children. I did not hire the PI until nine months after Mirynda and Kayleen were abducted which put him behind in the investigation. I now know, if I were to have hired a PI from the beginning, my children would most likely be home where they belong.

There are many things that have come up which should have led to the recovery of my children, but the rights of Tanya and her family could have possibly been violated. What about the rights of my children?

Mirynda and Kayleen were five and four at the time of their abduction and Mirynda has now turned eight and Kayleen seven. It is hard to express how difficult it has been to miss the last two and a half years of their lives without them.

I am looking forward to the day they are found!

America's Most Wanted aired the segment featuring Tanya Diane Brown on December 1, 2007. We are very hopeful someone who knows the wherabouts of Tanya and my children will call the AMW hotline (1-800-CRIME-TV) with the information needed to bring my children home.

Tanya also abducted three other children from a previous marriage and we are very hopeful that not only Mirynda and Kayleen, but also Darion, Tori and Brady Densley will be home very soon.
