Jeremy Bright becomes missing
Aug 14, 1986
He has not been seen since he went to the Coos County Fair in Myrtle Point, Oregon with friends. He has a scar on his forehead, a scar on his nose and a mole on his chin. He was last seen wearing a black windbreaker jacket and black Nike shoes with red shoe laces. He was 14 years old when he disappeared. Jeremy Bright

The evidence is that Jeremy was with his friends while he was at a County Fair and he disappeared. If I was to open this case and investigate it, I would make a list of all his friends who were allegedly with him at the fair. 3 Possibilties in this case
What happen to Jeremy Bright?
Let's face it there are 3 possibilities here. First, A Stranger abducted Jeremy. Why didn't anyone see anything? Second, A Fair Worker abducted Jeremy. Again I find it strange that none of the kids with Jeremy saw anything. Third, Is that something happen to Jeremy while they were at the fair or shortly after they were at the fair. A Case Unsolved
A Missing Child
After making the list of everyone who was with Jeremy, I would interview the girls on the list first. It has been 21 years since Jeremy disappeared. The kids with Jeremy at the time have grown up and probably have kids of their own. Some of them may have been scared or threatened not to say anything. Some of the kids may no longer be friends and may be more willing to talk now since so much time has passed. Someone out there knows something. I would interview the girls first because woman are usually more sensitive to other human beings because they become mothers. I would have a hard time doing anything with this case without interviewing all the people who were allegedly with Jeremy at the Coos County Fair back on August 14, 1986. Usually all it takes is for an Investigator with knowledge of the case to speak to some of the witnesses to solve a cold case. The Family deserves closure. Great Stuff on eBay

- i know david myself personally and i braught up the subject of jeremy in front of him and he glared at me and juss lookd scarier than ever.im not gunna lie im deadly afraid of him and im only a 16 yr old girl i live in myrtle point oregon.he even tried sumthin weird on me by trieng to get me to go in a secluded places with him and he tried everthing in his power to get me and my boyfriend to stick around longer and longer everytime we saw him...me and my boyfriend thinks he murdred jeremy bright.. and when i have a gut feeling about sumthin its always true.....also my mom witnessed david with jeremy on august 14 1986 after the coos county fair that day walking tword what it would be called now the skate paRK......what happend to jeremy???????????????well to try ansering that question...i think david steinof murdered him and terry did not do it bt he had his own parts in the murder bt david most likely did it....

- for Anonymus, kmr87, and J.p + l.b ~~ I don't know who you are so I don't know how close you actually are to the facts and history of this case - but, as Jeremy's Mom, I can tell you that I know David has been questioned several times over the years. Yes, we know that Jeremy talked with David and Terry on August 14, we've known that almost from the beginning. It seems almost as though everyone in MP saw and/or talked to Jeremy on a daily basis that whole week - right up until Thursday evening. If you know something that will lead to David as the person responsible - the thing to do is to let the Sheriff's department know. Stand up and tell what you know so we can find what happened to him. The investigation cannot go far on - ' well I read this anonymous tip online so now you need to confess'. I have been trying for 25 YEARS to find an answer to the question "WHAT HAPPENED TO JEREMY" - There is still an open investigation and all you have to do is call Sheriff Zanni himself and he will take any report that you have. I would so much greatly appreciate it if you could give any leads or information you have to Sheriff Zanni - he would like very much to be able to get this career long case solved also.

- Im Cecelia Fish and I feel for Jeremys family I also live with not knowing what happened all those years ago. My brother whom is Jonny Gray was one of the last to see Jeremy. I feel that Jonny was there and saw what ever happened He has never been the same since that night he came back to my sisters apartment. What ever he saw must have been very horific to him. I saw David that night covered in blood and was told by police that he had cuts to his forhead that created the blood I had seen on him. I had in the past been a neighber to David and his girlfriend and had seen him after fights he had with his girlfriend before and I told police at that time he had to much blood to have come from the scratches I had seen on him in the days afterJeremys disapearance. Davids family was well known in Myrtlepoint and they were very scary to all that knew them. I feel that they did something to both Jeremy and Jonny and then threatend Jonny with his family if he told anyone. I feel that we also lost Jonny from that night on. He has been a mental mess every since this has happened. I wish the police had looked deeper into the blood covered person I saw that night. I feel he knows what we all need to know what happened to Jeremy?

- Weren't you at the party when Jeremy got shot? Didn't you save your brother & leave Jeremy behind? Hasn't your brother held it against you your whole lives? Didn't you hang out with David & his family quite a bit back then? Would you ever sacrifice your family for your friends?

- No I was not at any parties that night or even around that time. At the time I was expecting my first child. I lived next door to David for a while but never hung out with him or any part of his family. And no I would not ever leave Jeremy in danger nor would Jonnie have left Him. We all looked out for each other and would do anything to help or protect each other.

- Johnny has joined his loved ones and his BFF Jeremy. He is finally rid of the anguish that plagued him for most of his teens and all of his adult life. Johnny did his best to help in finding Jeremy. He willingly cooperated with EVERYTHING that was asked of him. If he had the truth - it was buried so deeply and so traumatically - that even he could not reach it. It is a sad thing that evil incarnate arrived in Myrtle Point and ruined so many promising lives. Rest in Peace Johnny.

- Jeremy's stepfather passed away several years ago. Jeremy got money from him to go to the fair. This was on Wednesday evening. I (Jeremy's mother) talked to Jeremy on the phone the next afternoon (Thursday, August 14) rigth about 5 pm. He said he had been helping his Aunt all afternoon and was headed to meet his sister, S'te. He never showed up to meet her and I never got the blessings of speaking with him again.
All the friends have been interview, reinterviewed, and interviewed again and again. I honestly do not know of any proactive thing that can possibly be done by the police, investigators, or family at this point. I am hoping someone will come forward. I have to keep hoping that. Or someone, somehow will come across something with his DNA on it. The Missing and Exploited Children's foundation got DNA samples from his sister, father, and I for baseline whatever.
I do however believe that a passive act will someday solve the whereabouts of my little boy - tho' maybe never the whys. There are so many horrible things that happen with absolutely no why's that can be answered.

- I'm not sure if you saw the comment left on the www.theworldlink.com's website, but it might help. Let me copy and paste it..."I was told by a certain coquille resident, in tears, about a confession she had heard from one of the persons of interest who said that they took Jeremy from the fairgrounds, and that his body is supposedly in a capped of well in the middle creek area somewhere." The comment was left by "Jethro" on Dec. 20th, 2009.

Or at least that's what they said on Unsolved Mysteries. If he went to the tavern to get money from his stepfather, does his stepfather remembering why Jeremy wanted money? Does he remember where Jeremy said he was going? Did Jeremy's stepfather ask Jeremy any questions when Jeremy came to the tavern to borrow money? I would think that his stepfather would have the answers to these questions.

- Jeremy was going back down to the fair. This happened the night before he was missing. EVERYONE in Myrtle Point saw him on Wednesday evening. His Grandmother Betty was there at the same time. He was seen by many, many people on Thursday. . but not after Thursday when I talked to him on the phone at 5. He was then headed to the fairgrounds to meet with his sister. Jeremy getting money from Ole and seeing Grandma Betty just showed that Jeremy pretty much 'went all over town'. Those questions have been answered and re-answered over the years.

- Maybe you are onto something Rex. I'm sorry to remind Jeremy's mother and sibling of this possibility, but I watched the Unsolved Mysteries episode where he was featured and it's possible that this Hoyt Richardson you mention might have shot Jeremy in the late-night hours of August 14th, 1986. Then, Hoyt and whoever he was with or friends with must have done something with Jeremy after that happened.
The episode mentioned that and something about a witness possibly seeing some guys inside a house doing something with someone's bloody shirt. In the episode, it says that Jeremy went to a local tavern between 9 and 10 P.M. on 8/14/86 and asked his stepfather, who I guess was there, if he could borrow some money. The episode didn't say, but I'm assuming that the stepfather gave Jeremy some money. Then Jeremy left the tavern and that's the time period where something must have went down to make this a missing person case.

- I watched Jeremy's case when it originally aired on U.M. Growing up in a small town, I can understand the frustration of knowing that people have information (even if it's peripheral) yet refuse to disclose; it becomes the elephant in the room. I've always hoped that someone would finally admit why and what happened, even it the person(s) responsible would be unable to be prosecuted. I wanted to let Jeremy's family know that there are people who still care about what happened to him and think it's lousy the way the Myrtle police handled the initial case.

- Jesus is the resurrection of the body and Life Everlasting. God knows what happen. The People involved need to tell everyone what happen. The Family deserves closure! On Judgment Day, everyone gets judged by God for their deeds on earth, good and bad. You can not change the past but you can help the family with closure. - I miss Jeremy more than anyone could even believe possible. I firmly believe that God will help get this solved before I see Him. Jeremy's father is in really poor health and would like to see this at rest so he can "go" peacefully. We would all like closure - the whole family, parents, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles.... all of us. We love him greatly.

- I was working at the Coos County fair when a guy that I went to school with came up to me and started teling me about this guy Jeremy Bright and some of the things he,Hoyt Richardson, and Terry Steinhoff were doing with Jeremy. I can't really remember the details because I had been drinking and it didn't involve me because I was working. The funny thing is that I was over at my mothers' and she had an article in her photo album and that started my thinking about his disappearance. My friend Hoyts' personality took a drastic turn after the Jeremy bright case,he became more violent and seemed to act as if he were invincible. You have to understand I spent a lot of time with Hoyt through school and I immediately thought he should be considered a suspect.

- My ex was best friends with jeremy, ive read letters from jeremy to him. i grew up in myrtle point, and what was showed on unsolved mysteries was filmed at my grandfathers swimming hole

- It was a week before they would file a missing persons report. It was three months before the case was turned over to the Coos County Sheriff's Dept. The Myrtle Point Police Dept really did nothing before that

- I just can't believe the police waited almost a week before looking...I cannot imagine not knowing for 21 YEARS!! I hope someone comes forward...has anyone interviewed his friends, did he run with a rough crowd, etc.?

- Jeremy is my brother and I really wish that more had been done when he first disappeared than what was done. I really think that had they taken our family seriously and not waited almost a week to file a report there would be more to go on. A few days ago the main suspect on the case died in prison.
