Gadgets that Prevent you from Losing Things

Ranked #547 in Home & Garden, #7,777 overall | Donates to Polly Klaas Foundation

Losing your keys, your glasses, or your wallet can be funny. Losing a child is not.

All proceeds from this lens go to help the Polly Klaas® Foundation find missing children, prevent children from going missing, and pass laws like Amber Alert that help keep children safe. Build a lens for them at the Polly Klaas® Foundation Headquarters on Squidoo or visit the Polly Klaas® Foundation website.

Keep your mail safe and sound

Mail has a tendency to wander if it isn't given a home. You find it in the kitchen, under the car seat, in the bedroom, and at the bottom of your purse.

Don't risk losing bills or paychecks again! Give your mail a stylish home so you'll always be able to find it.

Lose your car?

If you can't find your vehicle in the parking lot, and you have a key fob that allows you to set off the alarm and/or lock the doors, walk through the lot and hit the alarm button (or lock button if you're not quite as brave).

The alarm will trigger and you'll be able to locate your vehicle (or it will honk to let you know it's locked.)

Stop losing your passwords!

If you have a single office area, a paper book might work for your password keeping system. Remember that it IS something else to lose or leave behind. Since I have iDevices, I use mSecure to keep track of credit card numbers and contact info, social security numbers, logins, etc. It features categories for your records, email backup and restore, and a self-destruct feature in case someone attempts too many incorrect passwords. I have this available on my iPhone, which is always with me.

If you don't think you'll have a lot of passwords and your email is secure, you can have usernames and passwords emailed to you. Then keep them in a separate folder or special Gmail label.

Cell phone tip

If you use your silent and vibrate mode sparingly, you can call your phone to locate it.

My wife has a form of dementia and is always leaving her purse. I would like to find a device that would alert her when she gets a certain distance from her purse.

We "misplace" stuff all the time. That's why we started FoundIt! We give our members a unique ID and ways to label your stuff (stickers & tags). We have a 96% return rate (of items with a FoundIt! ID). We text and email you with the Finder's info. Keeps your family info safe and private. We're inexpensive and just want to help you get your stuff back. www.foundit.net. Use code SQUIDOO for an extra 25% off!
