Amoeba Records
Our favorite Spot to Shop!
When we first got into this hobby of collecting and collaborating in music, this was our primary source for vinyls. Even if we aren't shopping, Amoeba is one of our favorite spots to hang in Hollywood. Amoeba Music is well known for their in-store shows and events; talk about party in the warehouse! Over our years of attending this location, we've made some friends along the way. I especially love the staff there, they have some resident DJ's and musicians working, everybody swarming that place. It's an awesome spot to be.They have so many selections of music and all kinds of ways to listen to it! They carry TONS of Vinyls, Cassettes, Compact Discs, and so much more. They also have a wide variety of movies if you're interested! Including Video tapes, Laser discs, DVDs, HD-DVDs, Blu-Rays, you name it. I think what I enjoy most about Amoeba is that they're more than willing to take back your unwanted merchandise. So if you aren't planning on shopping and you'd rather sell old stuff, Amoeba will gladly help you out with that too. Get out and have Fun!!
Amoeba Music Hollywood is located at:
6400 West Sunset Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90028
Vinyl Enthusiasts
Wax, rich with Texture
The reason we choose to play with Wax Records over Digital downloads & Compact Discs is because there is an element of warmth that comes with the wax. Vinyl has weight and texture; grooves are embedded within the glossy surface that define the music itself. Records are beautiful works of art that people sometimes overlook and forget because we're in an era of Digital Technologies. While it would be nice to have copies of both on Vinyl (raw) and Compact Disc (compressed), the quality of sound between the two is dynamic.
Live Performances
the Culmination of People and Music
It's very engaging because we interact with everything. The energy of the crowd and the band can be very enlightening, even overwhelming for some people. In our past experiences of attending concerts and performances, the audience is an aggressive force that has the power to sway and push waves of people, literally. Sometimes we choose to move with it, sometimes we don't move at all. What I like most about attending concerts is meeting new and interesting people. We become survivors of the music stage.
The photo displayed here was taken by the OC Register before the Gorillaz "Escape to Plastic Beach" concert. They played at the Gibson Ampitheatre, October 2010. Seen from left to right: naokai, anna lam, prizm, kevineleventh & killerstella.
We Are Your Friends
Never Play Alone Again!
"We are your friends" is a lyric from the song Justice vs. Simian - Never Be Alone. It was one of our favorite tracks to mix and play. This photo comes from one of our old DJ sessions, which we experimented with lights and songs, improvising on the stage. This was one of our greatest days.
