Creating An Account

How to get started...

1. Go to http://www.polyvore.com and on the right-hand side of the page
there will be two links that say sign in/register.

2. Click on Register.

3. Choose your display name which is what other polyvore users will see, and give them your email address, which is what you will sign in with.

4. Then pick a password that is easy to remember.

5. After you're done with that it should move to a screen that gives you the option of creating a set or watching a tutorial.

6. I would watch the tutorial just to get a feel for the program, then you're all ready to get to work creating fabulously fashionable outfits!

Creating A Set

Put your imagination into it!

1. To get started, click on the link that says "create a set" in the upper right hand corner of your polyvore home page.

2. Begin by searching for items in the tab on the right side of the web page labeled "All Items".

3. Use a search word such as a brand name like "Chanel", or the item of clothing you're searching for like "Shirt".

4. You can specify the color and website you are looking for these items on by selecting a color or website in the drop down menu under the tab you are searching for items in.

5. When you find an item you'd like to add to your set, click on it. You should get a box that will ask you if you want to add it to your set, save it to your items, or view details. If you'd like to add it to your set click add to set. If you decide you don't want that item click anywhere else on the screen and the box will disappear.

6. Resize the item by dragging one of the corners until it is the size you want it to be. Move it around by simply clicking and dragging it to anywhere on the set.

7. You can add more items by doing the same thing.

8. When you have all the items you want arrange them in any way you'd like.

9. If they overlap eachother, to choose which ones you want to be in the background or foreground click Bgnd or Fgnd when an item is selected until it is in front or in back of the item you would like it to be in front or back of.

10. To add a background, use the search word "background" and select which color you want it to be in your drop-down color menu. You can specify which kind of background you want by searching specifically with something like "floral background" or "ocean background".

11. When you are finished with your set click "publish" to save it. It is now a public set and people are free to comment and favorite it.

Exploring Polyvore

Commenting, Favoriting, and Viewing Sets. (Oh! And adding contacts!)

To go to your Polyvore Home Page, click on your user name in the upper right hand corner.

At the top of that page, there should be a search box. Type in a keyword (ie. Summer Outfit) to see sets that other people have created on polyvore. A bunch of sets will come up and you can click on any that appeal to you.

You can just look at them, or you can tell the person your opinion of the set. Do this by either favoriting them if you like them (to do this click on the link under their picture, username, and other sets) , or leaving a comment (under the set) saying either you like it, or saying something you think they should change about it. Don't leave rude comments!

If you really like the person's set you can click on their username on the right side next to their picture. This will allow you to see their profile and view all of their sets!

If you really like all of their sets or just like even one of them, you can add them to your contacts.

Another method of exploring Polyvore is clicking on the link that says "Explore" in the upper right hand corner. When you do this, it will show you a page with contests, popular sets, recent sets, some groups, popular items, recent items, and people who recently joined (recent faces).

Click on any of these things to view them.

Contests

Create, Enter, Win!

To find a list of current and past contests, go to the Explore link in the upper right-hand corner.

Sometimes there won't be any current contests, in which case, there may not be a link to contests on the explore page.

If there are current contests, you will find a link to them on the top of the page when you click on "Explore".

Remember, don't copy anybody's entries, follow the rules, and only enter as many times as they say you can.

Editing Sets

How to edit a set you've already created

On your Polyvore home page, click on the set you'd like to edit.

Underneath your username, picture, and other sets, there will be a link that says edit this set.

Do whatever you'd like to the set and then hit "publish".

Your set will be updated.

Using Polyvore to Shop

Finding things you like, then buying them!

Polyvore uses real items from real stores on the internet!

Some items that you have in your sets will be out of stock even though they remain in your set, so you can't purchase EVERY item that you use, but a good many you can buy!

When you find an item in a set (your's or somebody else's) click on it on the list of items used in the set on the right hand side. You will find a page about this item telling you which sets it is used in etcetera...

Under the picture of whoever saved it first and under the links in the upper right-hand corner there will be a link to the website that it came from. Click on that link and it will take you to the item on the website.

If it is out of stock then find another item close to it by searching in the "All Items" tab when you are creating a set.

Happy Shopping!
