Pomegranate

Considering the health benefits of products to buy, the pomegranate is one of the most beneficial fruits. Being generally in season in the Northern Hemisphere from September until approximately January, you will be able to buy fresh pomegranates in the shops right now, if you are not living in an area where they are growing in your garden. Luckily here in Cyprus they are growing in ampleness.

History Of Pomegranate 

Pomegranate SeedsBesides being luscious and fabulously healthy, pomegranates have a romantic history. It is one of the oldest known fruits and frequently referred to in Greek myths and bible stories. It has been said, that Persephone, the daughter of the harvest goddess Demeter, was kidnapped by Hades, the lord of the underworld. She had to spend several months of the year in the underworld for punishment, as she was charmed with a couple of pomegranate seeds just before being rescued back to earth. According to the myth, earth was forced to tolerate winter while Persephone was underground with Hades.

Salad With Pomegranate Seeds 

Salad With Pomegranate SeedsIngredients for the salad
¾ bowl of salad leaves according your taste
Seeds os a big pomegranate
½ cup of cottage cheese
¼ cup of chopped pecan nuts or pine nuts

Ingredients for the dressing
1 tbsp of olive oil
2 tbsps of wholegrain mustard
1 tbsp of honey
1 tsp of lemon juice

Preparation
  1. Put all ingredients together in a bowl, then go along to prepare the sweet mustard dressing
  2. Whisk the dressing ingredients until good commingled. Pour the dressing over the salad ingredients and mix everything. Serve immediately.

Great stuff. I have been eating this fruit since I was a kid and before it was chic. I like the tart potency of it although it does tend to stain your fingers when eating them by hand.
