Southern California Pomeranian Rescue
We rescue pomeranians from shelters and off the streets throughout southern california. Most pomeranians will be accepted. However, we cannot save them all. For this reason we focus on high kill shelters and stray animals as well as urgent owner surrender and hoarding situations. Please view our lens and read about our adorable pomeranians and how you can help, and to read a few heartfelt poems and see a rescue video that will touch your heart.
A Rescuer's Creed
I shall be a believer of all that is good in man and of all that is deserving in animals. I shall plead for their lives, campaign for their safety and uphold their right to a natural death. I shall seek out the injured and the maimed, the unloved, and the abandoned and tend to them in their last days. I shall not forget their place in the hierarchy of life, nor that we walk in each others paths.
I shall bear witness to the wonder they bring into our lives and to the beauty they bestow upon our souls. I shall renew their spirits when they are waning, bind their wounds when they bleed, cradle them when they whimper, and comfort them when they mourn.
I shall be near them in their hour of greatest need - a companion and friend when the time has come. I shall watch over them and console them and ask that the angels gather them in their arms. From the creatures of the earth I shall learn the fruits of compassion and undying love, and I shall be called the beloved of God. In their company I shall indeed be blessed.

About Southern California Pomeranian Rescue
We rescue pomeranians from shelters and off the streets throughout southern california. Most pomeranians will be accepted. However, we cannot save them all. For this reason we focus on high kill shelters and stray animals as well as urgent owner surrender and hoarding situations. In January 2009, SCPR, a Non-Profit 501(c)(3), was recognized by the state of California. Our Pomeranian's have been rescued from kill shelters and relinquishment situations. All of our Pommies are pre-screened for behavioral, temperament, and health conditions prior to placement in a forever home. This includes being spayed/neutered.
A Must See Video!
These four pom-spaniels were dumped by their owners in Chino. They spent 3 days in the blistering heat over 100* when we finally were able to rescue them. They are sweet but very shy at this time. Fredrick has begun giving kisses and Stanly the oldest of these 4 is an attention hog. Sherry wants to be a lap dog. Dale is warming up with treats. These kids urgently need foster homes to learn that they will never be alone again. Please watch their rescue video

- Great job that you where able to get those four cuties! Life on the streets must have been horrible for them.
I often watch animal cops on animal planet, great work they do.
Here in holland we don't have something like that, wish there was.
In America the rules for protecting animals is a hundres ways better than here.
But on the other side, things like that doesnt happen here so much luckily.
You did a great job, im happy for the dogs they are save now!

Adopting From The Southern California Pomeranian Rescue
Our standard adoption fee ranges between $100-500 based on what we and the shelters have provided it with. The common costs incurred are worming, vaccines, microchips (all dogs leave with one), spay/neuter, transport expenses, and medications to treat pre-existing conditions. If you are unsure of being able to afford this fee, we can always arrange for you to foster the dog you like with the added benefit of being able to pay the donation when you adopt down the line. During a foster situation with the intent to adopt the foster dog, we will place the dog on a hold status until you can afford the adoption fee.

Pomeranians Available For Adoption
If you are considering becoming a Pommie Parent please remember to read up about the breed, review the expense that comes along with adopting a pet and caring for it yearly, and think about how your lifestyle may affect your prospective Pommie child.
Remember adopting a pet is FOREVER, and if you are not sure if you can commit to loving and caring for a Pommie for the rest of it's life, maybe you should consider fostering first.
All of our Pommies are pre-screened for behavioral, temperament, and health conditions prior to placement in a forever home.
Adoption donations are between $100 and $500.

Here In This House
Many of our pommies are now safely in permanent homes with loving families. Many of these dogs were abandoned or left at shelters. We can't thank the owners of these dogs enough for the compassion and love they have shown in adopting these needy pommies.
Here in this house......
I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'.
I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed.
I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I'll eat.
I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat.
I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness,
and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose.
My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.
Here in this house...
There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level.
I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand,
I can enjoy the warmth of the words.
I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many.
My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it!
Here in this house...
I will never be a substitute for anything I am not.
I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves.
I will be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be.
I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity.
I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all.
If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame.
Here in this house...
I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch...
knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me.
If I am ill, I will be doctored.
If scared, I will be calmed.
If sad, I will be cheered.
No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and thought to be of value.
I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough.
My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought.
I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.
Here in this house...
I will belong.
I will be home.

Now accepting donations of old ink jet cartridges, old toner cartridges, and old cell phones!!!
We have partnered with www.Recycle4charity.com to collect and receive cash dividends for used cartridges and cell phones. These cash dividends are used to directly benefit homeless, shelter, and abandoned dogs. The benefits for these dogs include new bedding, toys, collars, microchips, vaccinations, medical care, food, housing, and much more. Until very recently we were only able to provide these things through the donation of our members, but now we are able to receive these donations that are as good as cash to us. To see a list of the donations that we receive in exchange for each item please visit the above listed website.
Current Donations Needed:
We are in need of physical goods such as blankets, towels, beds, collars, leashes, bowls, washable pee pads, toys, and food! Physical donations are also tax deductible and you can rest assured that the donation can only be used for the pomeranians.
We are in need of medical supplies. These supplies include: first aid kits, reusable splints, IV tubing, IV needles, stethoscopes, styptic powder and cremes, shavers, inflatable e-collars (XS-Med), muzzles (XS-Med), donated veterinary care and vet tech assistance.
We are also in need of an Orange County Intake Facility and Sanctuary. This is a fund that will be collected to rent a location or purchase a commercial facility for our use. Other rescues can incorporate with us for this facility if it is agreed upon for 24hr care and designation of location layout and limits. Please contact us for more information on partnering for a new facility.

The Rescuer's Bridge
Rescuer's BridgeThe Bridge Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.
It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those animals who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge. With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other animals like himself, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.
One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him.
"You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge."
The first animal thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.
"Watch, and see.", said the second animal. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.
"What happened?"
"That was a rescuer. The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place on earth across The Rainbow Bridge."
