Ponystars

When you initially sign up you are taken to a screen that shows two ponies. These are your pony's parents. You can choose the breed and the color of the parents so that you get your own unique pony. You can choose the color of the parents mane, body color, and eye color. When you confirm that these are the colors that you want, Ponystars takes the two parents and creates a whole new pony from the colors of the parents.

Congratulations! You have your first ponystar, now what? Now you follow the tutorial. You will be instructed to do things like feeding your ponystar, muking it's hooves, and brushing it.

How are the colors of pony babies determined? It goes by the colours of the parents. And still not fully determined.

When can I expect a wild pony from the fairies? After the first 3 days of playing.

What's the best way to get a specific stallion to stud for my mare? Send the breeding request, along side a private message for the owner, so they'll know you sent the request. You can send multiple requests.

What is the benefit of belonging to a stable? You get to complete the quests, and stables organise people and coordinates their efforts.

What happens when you finish the tutorial? You get more quests, based on various qualities of your ponies (colors, gender, stats, etc)

How can I make fairy gold? Each day you get gold, depending on how many ponies and a few other factors. Check "your journal" to find out from where.

What are the rules about pony marriage proposals? What limits the ponies any given pony may propose marriage to? You can only send requests to the opposite gender, and only to mature ponies. You can send requests with mature and baby ponies. Again, you can send multiple requests

What are the benefits of having ponies get married? There are a few extra traits you can attach, and your pony has a constant breeding partner.

Getting Started

Requirements

Mares:
10 days old
At lest 24 health points
100-150 fairy gold for Stud fees
Your mare can not be pregnant
Your Mare will not give birth while she is on the grasslands.

Stallions:
10 Days Old
At Lest 24 Heath Points
Your Stallion can not have breed in the past 7 days
Stallions can be on the grasslands and it doesn't cost them any money to breed.

Finding A Mate

Mares:
If your mare meets the above requirements she is ready to breed.

Step 1. Look on the left hand side on your web page under the header "MY PONYSTARS" and click on the "Proposals" link.

Step 2. Once you are on the Proposals page you need to click on the link that says "Stallion List" (it's the 2nd from the top).

Step 3. You are now on the Stallion List. Let me explain how it works. After you've found the stallion of your dreams. Click on the drop down menu and select which mare you would like to breed with that stallion. You can requests for multiple mares to the same stallion, and you can send requests to as many different stallions as you want.

Step 4. You wait. You can check on the status of all your requests by clicking on the "Breeding Requests you Sent" Link. (found at the top of the Stallion List, or on the Proposals page). The list shows you the Date and Time you sent the request, the Stallion Owner's name, the Stallion's Name, the Name of the Mare you requested, if the request has been accepted or Denied and a link to Cancel the breeding request.

Step 5. As soon as the first stallion accepts your breeding request your mare will become pregnant and the stud fee will be subtracted from your Fairy Gold. If you do not have enough Fairy Gold the breeding request can not be accepted.

Stallions:
If your stallion meets the above requirements you are ready to breed your stallion.

Step 1. Go to your stallion's profile page look on the bottom right hand side (underneath "training") and click on the link that says "Stallion Status" (it has a big red heart next to it). By clicking this link you have put your stallion on the stallion page. If there is some reason why your stallion can not breed (he doesn't have enough health, or has already breed in the last 7 days with a mare) there will be a warning that will appear at the top of the page informing you what the problem is.

Step 2. Go to the left hand side of the page under the header "MY PONYSTARS" and click on the "Proposals" link.

Step 3. Click on the link that says "Breeding Requests you Received" If a mare requests to breed with your stallion it will be listed on this page.
First is the Date and Time of the request, The name of the Mare Owner, The stallion they requested, the Mare they want to breed with your Stallion, and the links to Accept or Deny the request.

Step 4. Once you have accepted at request the stud fee will be added to your Fairy Gold and your stallion will be unable to breed again for 7 days.

Breeding With Your Own Heard

Breeding with in your own herd works much the same way as breeding with other player's ponystars. It is worth noting here that there is no penalty for inbreeding in this game.

Step 1. Put your stallion on the Stallion list.

Step 2. Go to the stallion list and enter in your stallions name in the text field (make sure the drop down menu says name) and then click confirm.

Step 3. Select your mare from the drop down menu beneath your stallion.

Step 4. Go to the Breeding Requests you Received page and accept your breeding request. You do need enough fairy gold to pay for the stud fee for this to work but you will not loose are gain any fairy gold.

Breeding With Married Couples

Accepting a marriage proposal will not get your pony pregnant. Breeding married ponies is the same as breeding unmarried ponies. The only pony you can breed your married pony with is the one you are married to. There is no penalty for marring an already pregnant pony even if the pony you marry is not the father of the baby. The baby will be born normally. Like wise there is no penalty for getting a divorce while your mare is pregnant either.

Pregnancy

Mares:

Step 1. You can check to see if your mare is pregnant by going to your mare's profile page and looking on the lower right hand corner underneath the words that say "To obtain a Special Trait Visit the Marketplace". If your pony is pregnant it will read "Your Ponystar Mare is already pregnant". If it says "Your Ponystar is not healthy enough to breed. Heal her up to 24 health points by clicking on the healing link above it. Once she is at 24 health points the message will say that she is pregnant if she is pregnant.

You have to heal your mare up to at lest 24 health points for her to be pregnant she will not be pregnant until she has 24 health points.

The act of becoming impregnated causes mares to loose health. This is normal the amount of health they loose is random. Your mare will not loose health during the pregnancy nor will you loose any health in giving birth to your baby.

Step 2: Wait for about 7 days. The length of pregnancy's can vary, I've seen as short as 2 days and as long as 10, but it is generally 7 days long. It's a good idea to get into the habit of checking the nursery every day when you log in to take care of your ponies (even if you don't think you'll have any babies that day). Babies show up at the time of the server roll over for that day. So you will only need to check the nursery once a day.

Step 3: Go to the left hand side of the page under the header "MY PONYSTARS" and click on the link that says "Nursery" If you have a baby it'll be listed on this page. If you don't check back the next day. You have 3 days from when it's born to retrieve it. If you do not collect it in 3 days your baby will be released into the wild and you can not get it back. Because Pregnancy time can vary (the shortest time I've ever seen any one report was 2 days) It's a good idea to check the nursery before the 7 days are up.

Step 4. Underneath the picture of your baby will be a link to the father and a link to the mother. As well as a link to "Retrieve" your pony. (you won't know the gender of your pony until you've got it out of the nursery) When you do this you will get a page that says "Pony Sold" don't panic that's a good thing. After you have Retrieved your pony he or she will be listed with the rest of your ponies in your herd.

Step 5. If you collected your pony and without any problems skip this step. If you got a warning that says you don't have enough room for your pony that means you need to buy an additional paddock. Scroll down on the left hand side of your page till you come to the header that says "MY PADDOCKS". The number on the left is how many of that type of pony you have currently in your herd. The number on the right is how much space you have for that type of pony. To buy an additional paddock click the [+] next to the type you need. Paddocks cost 800 fairy gold. If you don't have enough gold don't panic, remember you have 3 days to collect your pony. However it is a good idea to plan ahead and save some extra fairy gold up ahead of time to ensure you can collect your pony right away.

Step 6. Go to your new ponystar's profile page. Up at the top right corner you can name your pony. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see the pony's parents the father is listed on the left and the mother on the right.

Stallions:

Step 1. After you have accepted the breeding request your stallion can sit back and wait.

Step 2. After 7 or so days if you scroll to the bottom of your stallion's page you can see his offspring listed under the heading "Lineage" . If nothing shows up and it's been well past 7 days that means the mare's owner did no pick up the baby from the nursery in time and the baby was released into the wild.

Post Pregnancy

Mares have an 8 day cool down after conception before they can breed again. It does not matter if the baby is born 2 days in to the pregnancy the mother will still have to wait 8 days before she can breed again. Babies have been known to have been born after the 8 day cool down.

Stallions have to wait 7 days between breeding regardless when the baby was born.

Also worth noting here is that the cool down for stallion breeding starts at the time of conception. So if for example you breed your stallion at 4 pm on Saturday he would again become available at 4 pm next Saturday. For mares the count down starts at the server roll over. So if for example you got your mare pregnant at 4 pm on Saturday she would be available to breed again at the Saturday/Sunday server roll over at midnight.

Breeding

If you have made arrangements to breed your stallion with some one's mare you should wait for the the mare owner's request and not accept the first one that comes to you. If the mare owner does not send a breeding request on the day you agreed u send the mare owner a PM asking if he or she is still interested in breeding with your stallion. If you continue to get no response after 2-3 days it's safe to start accepting requests from other players. If you have breeding arrangements set up with a specific stallion make sure you send the breeding request as soon as possible.

It's always nice to offer your stables first pick of your stallions. You can send a PM to everyone in your stable by going to your stable's page and using the "Send a PM to all members of the stable" link.

Birth Announcements

After you've collected your new little bundle of joy from the nursery pming the father's owner letting them know of the birth is always a nice gesture.

I joined the Ponystar site about six months ago. One day I was sitting at my computer, just surfing the net when I saw an advertisement for Ponystars. My two year old daughter, who loves My Little Pony, saw the Ponystar ad and got really excited. I clicked on the ad to show her the ponies and started an account from there. I usually have both of my kids with me when I play on Ponystars. They love to see the different color ponies and what my Ponystars look like. I even let them help me with the names :).
