All About The Poodle

The intelligence of the Poodle is one of the main reasons why so many fall in love with this dog. Their coat being non-allergenic makes them an excellent pet to have around your home. Through the years the Poodle has grown in popularity. This Lens is all about the Poodle, so i hope you like it!!

Poodle Dog Personalities

It is widely known that the Poodle is one of the most intelligent breeds when it comes to the canine. Not only are they interesting and responsive but they also provide their owners with a consistent companion that doesn't cause much trouble. Due to their excellent talent and versatility the Poodle has a high aptitude for learning.

Although it is thought the breed originated in France they actually originated in Germany. The old water dog known as the Pudel is closely related to the Poodle especially when it comes to the coat and body form. On occasion the breed will still display an eager fondness for water even thought they are no longer bred as sporting dog to retrieve waterfowl. However, there are other things to consider and not just the history of the breed. There is also a history behind the standard poodle cut, which leaves tufts of hair on the thighs and around the feet.
The Poodle is most known for their hair cut, which features a trim on the face, legs and body while leaving tufts of hair on the thighs and rings of hair on the feet. It is not known what the exact origin of this hair cut and custom is, but this type of cut does help to reduce the labor of daily grooming for those who have the Poodle as a house pet. This means that the owner of a Poodle can easily maintain the coat in good condition so the dog can remain healthy and good in appearance.

If the Poodle coat isn't brushed constantly it can twist up into cords that continue to grow. These then develop into a rope like cord that results from the entwining of new and unshed hairs. Eventually the coat can cause discomfort and a lack of freedom in the animal's movement if the cords are left untrimmed. This is why you should at least keep the Poodle coat short, although it isn't necessary to maintain the standard Poodle cut.
Throughout the history of the breed, the curly haired Poodle has advanced the most in popularity. This coat allows the Poodle to remain smart and clean which makes them a pleasant companion as long as they are regularly brushed and combed with the occasional washing. The most common colors for the Poodle include black, white, brown and blue.

The most intelligent is considered the white Poodle and many professional trainers prefer this color. Next in the order of intelligence is the black Poodle and the brown and blue Poodles are generally considered to be lacking in character. Since the early 1900's the curly coated Poodles have improved and today many fine specimens of the breed can be found. Also gaining in popularity recently has been the toy poodle. These dogs are no more than fifteen inches in height at the shoulder and should look exactly like a miniature version of the full-sized dog, following the same official standards as the full sized Poodle.

The history is long and rich for the Poodle. Knowing Poodle information can help you to see why they are such a popular breed.

We lost our toy poodle march 12th this year. Chelsea was a light apricot and she was 18 years, 6 months and two days old when she passed away in my arms at home. Chelsea was a very smart and intelligent girl. She had at least twent different toys and we named them all. We would ask her to go get a specific toy and she always brought us the right one. Some of her toys were the same except different colours and she still brought the right one. We still miss Chelsea very much as she went everywhere with us and was very rarely left at home. Our home seemed empty without Chelsea around so we went looking for another toy poodle. We found our new companion in April. She is a dark apricot toy poodle and we named her Precious. Precious has two sisters and a brother. It was a difficult decision when choosing which puppy to buy as they were all very cute and friendly. We finally decided on Precious beause there was just something special we saw in her. As the others were still climbing all over us Precious finally settled down right next to me, snuggled up and went to sleep. We kept saying how precious she looked and that is how she got her name. We had several other names picked out but Precious just seemed to suit her the best. Precious is now 6 1/2 months old and has been spayed. We started obedience training a couple of weeks ago and all the other dogs in the class are much larger than her. She seems to made friends with a St. Bernard named Lola.

Also, how many times do I need to wash her?? I gave her a bath, yesterday, and last Saturday, and we don't pluck her ear hairs, or express her anal glands. But she looks, smells, and is Healthy. Oh yeah, She Has been Barfing In her kennel.at around 6:30Am, and in the middle of the night. SHE EATS IT, And her through up looks like mushy oatmeal. When I only keep her on the strict diet, of Puppy Food, and water. Poodles Have Zest For Adventure

Poodles are not only beautiful to behold, but they also have a most endearing type of personality, which is what makes them much sought after today. As for its physical characteristics, it is a breed that has two different varieties of coats, which are the corded and curly coats, though the corded coated Poodle is pretty rarely found in the United States. Poodles also have three main sizes that are Standard, Miniature as well as Toy and thus will suit different lifestyles as well. Also, Poodles come in a variety of colors though black and also white are their most common colors.

Another facet to the personality of a Poodle is its ability to pick up things very fast and a Poodle is also famous for being energetic and sometimes will even be termed as a clownish dog because of its natural ability to perform tricks. Poodles are also intelligent to a remarkable extent and there are even some people that opine that Poodles are in fact able to reason for themselves and they can also attune them to whichever environment they encounter. What's more, a Poodle is also a very versatile creature and though originally bred to retrieve game, it is now famous for being a family pet dog.
Poodles are well known for their love for human beings and they are also very good around children, and, in addition, their hunting dog characteristics that have remained with them over the ages have also made them ideal watchdogs as well, especially in the case of a Standard Poodle. However, Miniature Poodles as well as the Toy version will also make good watchdogs and they too will be very alert and quick to warn you should any stranger approach them.

Poodles would have made excellent guard dogs as well but their small size is a limiting factor though even then the Poodle is a very bold animal and he also exudes much confidence and is not known to easily back down when facing other animals and even strangers. Though Poodles are docile creatures, when left to play with small children, it is still advisable to supervise them because in the presence of children who may not know how to treat with a Poodle, it could lead to him being ill treated, thus leading to the Poodle losing its trust in children and acting unpredictably as a consequence.
It would not be wrong to say that Poodles will make excellent pets and they also possess a good nature that along with their intelligence will help them to adapt to any kind of surroundings. What's more, Poodles love attention and require to be showered with plenty of love and care, but they will also bond well with family members and in the process will easily form a close attachment that will last all through their life. By nature, the Poodle is not a loner and thus does not like being left by him, and actually thrives most when he is the center of attraction.

Poodles can learn tricks and are easy to train and are easily one of the most obedient dog breeds and they are proud animals that also love to do tricks for you. However, the Poodle is also a creature that expects and loves stability as well as requires following a set routine and will not take kindly to changes in his routine or to being exposed to chaotic environments. He is also a one-man and one-family pet that can often become very shy when in the presence of strangers and will even take to barking if he does not know someone. However, when given time to settle into his new home, the Poodle will make an excellent pet and also a good guard dog.
A Poodle loves to hog your attention and can also perform many cute tricks that ensure that they get plenty loads of affection. This article is meant to provide you with all the necessary Poodle information that will help you understand the Poodle personality.

Poodles Require Careful Grooming

In their earliest years, Poodles served as retrievers for ducks. Their main purpose was to jump into the water and fetch ducks, which led to its becoming a good swimmer. However, today the Poodle can do a lot more and he is certainly also a good companion as he is easy to train and possesses traits such as being agile, and can hunt as well as track. Poodles are also excellent rescue animals and they also make wonderful service dogs.

There are three sizes of the Poodle including the standard size, miniature size and also toy size. In addition, Poodles have varied colored coats including blacks, gray, blues, browns, and apricots as well as cream and silver, as also white. The fur is generally curly while the tail is usually docked and it is normal for a veterinarian to shorten the tail through performing surgery which was originally meant to aid them in their retrieving activities.
The name Poodle is believed to have originated from the German word "pfudel" that means to splash or puddle. Because of their curly coats, Poodles require grooming in a special way and they also require bathing on a regular basis, and the coat needs to be trimmed often, which in fact may even required it to be groomed by professionals who can even make them look like show dogs. However, Poodles are non-shedding though some small amounts of hair are lost each day.

Poodles are also hypoallergenic which means that even if you are allergic to dogs, having a Poodle around you will not prove to be problematic. In addition, Poodles are friendly creatures that like to be pampered and cared for and they get along well with children as well. Due to their intelligence, loyalty as well as playful nature, Poodles are ideal pet dogs that like to be involved in everything that is happening around them, and they are also excellent dogs that can perform various tricks.
Despite their somewhat small build, Poodles are handsome and very muscular and they are also very good swimmers and because of their high degree of intelligence, will learn whatever is taught to them. However, because of their tiny size, the toy and miniature poodles tend to be rather excitable, especially if left idle, though this breed takes kindly to obedience training and thus do well in dog shows. Remember also, that Poodles require to be exercised daily and a walk or two each day is recommended.

Poodles are animals that love to play hide and seek, and also fetching a ball while they take to playing games and other activates including swimming, flyball as well as tracking. Certain Poodles will even perform dances such as what is known as the Canine Freestyle. You can also take your Poodle along with you to a dog park, or out to a beach or mall and thus socialize your pet, which will help make him a good dog citizen.

The Poodle is intelligent and though there are variants in terms of their size, this wonderful breed has evolved into a sweet natured pet that is quite unrecognizable from the formidable hunting dog that it once was. For those who need more Poodle information, they should read this article whose purpose is to show you what to expect from owning Poodles.

All About Poodles

If you want a confident, intelligent dog that enjoys an active life, a Poodle may be the best breed for you. Poodles are full of life and energy; inquisitive, dignified; and loyal. For at least the last ten years, the American Kennel Club of the United States has listed the Poodle as one of its ten most popular breeds. One reason Poodles are so popular is that they come in a variety of size like small, medium and large, known in the dog world as Toy, Miniature and Standard Poodles.

To measure a Poodle's height against the standard of the breed, measure the dog at the highest point of the shoulder. A Standard Poodle measures more than fifteen inches at the shoulder. A Miniature Poodle measures fifteen inches or less at the shoulder, and a Toy Poodle measures less than ten inches.

The Poodle's coat is always naturally curly and dense in texture. Several colors are allowed, including black, white, apricot, brown, blue, gray and silver. Within each solid color, slight variations in hue are also allowed.
The Standard Poodle probably originated as a cross between a Hungarian Water Hound and a French water dog known as the Barbet. The breed's dense, curly coat is somewhat water resistant, and hunters developed the typical Poodle cut, with puffs of hair at the front and rear leg joints, to protect the dogs' joints from the cold during the hunting season.

Although the Germans, the Danes, and the French all claimed at one time or another to be the country where the Standard Poodle breed originated, France has come to be known as the Poodle's country of origin. The French are exceedingly proud of this designation, and the French Poodle occupies a special place in French culture.

The Poodle's intelligence and eager-to-please temperament make it an easy breed to train. Humans have taken advantage of the Poodle's trainability, using the dog as a retriever for bird hunting and as a tracker in truffle hunting. Poodles have also held a variety of jobs in the entertainment industry, as circus performers and performers in modern film and television.
A Standard Poodle can become famous because their owners are famous or because they gain fame in their own right, or because their famous owners incorporate them into their public persona. Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas had three Poodles, named Basket, Basket II and Basket III. "Weird Al" Yankovic has a poodle named Bela, who posed on Yankovic's head for the cover of his "Poodle Hat" album. WWE Superstar Rene Dupree has a poodle named Fifi.

Poodles have marked their territory, so to speak, in popular literature, film and television. A Poodle named Josephine inspired her owner author Jacqueline Susanne to write the best selling book titled Every Night Josephine. A Poodle named Rhapsody in White starred as "Butch" in the 2000 film, Best In Show. And a fictional Poodle named Fifi is featured in the animated TV series Rugrats. Most Standard Poodles will never see their name in lights, but their owners nevertheless consider them stars.

The popular, intelligent Poodle is easy to train and makes an excellent pet. You can get more Poodle information from a Poodle breeder in your area.
