Cute, Chic, and Classic 1950s Fashions: Costumes and Clothing, from Poodle Skirts to Marilyn Monroe

Ranked #1,581 in Fashion & Beauty, #25,165 overall

Poodle Skirts, Pink Ladies, Saddle Shoes, Cat-eye Glasses... Fabulous Fifties Fashion!

Since I was a little girl, I have loved 1950s style fashions.  From my mother's vintage circle skirts to my very own saddle shoes... Take a look at these wonderful styles and add a little sock hop to your own wardrobe!

Fifties fashion: Not just for Halloween anymore!

"Retro" is the new "Now"

Not only are vintage dresses and skirts hot items, but you can also get brand new clothing in the retro styles. For instance, I recently bought a cute dress with a fitted bodice, belted waist, and full skirt at a local Target. (That's right, I buy dresses at Target.) It doesn't look "old," but it's kind of retro-cute in an updated way.

So, whether you're looking for a great Marilyn Monroe costume, or want something more authentic to add to your wardrobe, here are some fun clothes and costumes to check out!

from The Seven Year Itch

When it comes to 1950s costumes, Marilyn Monroe is in a class by herself. From the famously floating white halter dress (The Seven Year Itch) to the pink strapless gown (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), Marilyn was (and still is) an American style icon.

Ah, the 50s. A great decade that preceded me by not very many years!

Wow poodle skirts. I think the only thing coming back from the 50s is the popularity of burgers and milkshakes. I know Japan has a huge rockabilly season and people still dress like greasers there.
