Poor Time Management

Lord knows we are all guilty of Poor Time Management.

I mean, really, who couldn't do better.

Don't we all have things we want to do?

Go to college?

Catch up on reading?

Write that book?

Clean house (yes, there are those of us who enjoy it)?

BUT!

Do you ever feel like this little guy here?

Just one wrong step and everything crashes.

When you manage your time wisely, you automatically have some built-in cushion (the equivalent of his net).

Take a step today to eliminate Poor Time Management habits.

PS Watch the video. Hint: It's not the first one you'd think it is, it's the second one.

A Little About Me

I sometimes wonder
Who would want to know anything about little 'ole me.

Then I go through my day
And realize how much I got accomplished (believe me not ALL that I wanted to get done).

This brings me to
The realization that I may actually be of help to some poor time-deprived mom who just wants to spend more time with the family.

And THAT was the inspiration for There Must Be A Better Way...a blog devoted to devoted (not to mention sleep deprived) women

Poor Time Management--Home

Need an all-too-familiar example of Poor Time Management?

Ok, after you drag the kids out of bed in morning you tell them to get dressed for school.

Your Kindergartner does dress herself--in a red striped shirt with a blue plaid skirt. And even though she isn't allowed to wear sandals to school (we all know what a hazard they are, right?) that's all she has because she can't find any socks because...well...laundry is a little behind (you are soooo going to catch up this weekend--even if you have to spend all weekend doing it).

Meanwhile, your second grader can't squeeze any toothpaste from the bone-dry toothpaste tube (you meant to swing by Wal-Mart and get some yesterday afternoon, but forgot).

You make a mental note to pick up some after soccer practice tonight as you give her a breath mint (no, I have absolutely never done this--I just have a good imagination). Wait, Soccer Practice Tonight, bummer, you had forgotten and made plans with a couple of girlfriends in town for a visit. Great--And they gave YOU the choice of tonight or last night (when you were just too tired). So tonight would be the only time you could see them until next year's visit. And your husband already has plans so he can't do taxi duty. Double Bummer!

The day passes in a flurry of errands and chores. It comes time to pick up the kids and all of the sudden you realize that you don't have time to cook that chicken in the fridge before practice. So what now--Ummmmm, pizza? Yeah, that'll do.

To make matters worse, your husband informs you that his boss has a house on the beach and has invited the family for the weekend. You sure do need a break and start packing (it is Thursday, after all). Suddenly, you remember all the things you promised yourself, your kids, and your husband you'd catch up on this weekend.

How deflated are you after realizing that instead of laying ocean-side in a bikini, you'll be at home catching up on laundry. Your husband dejectedly assures you that you can wear your bikini while doing the laundry.

You start planning his demise (and any judge would understand).

If only you were honest (only with yourself, you wouldn't want to admit anything to him--especially NOW) you'd realize that you need some SERIOUS help.

Did you know there are tools that can help you move away from Poor Time Management?

The clickable links scattered throughout will take you to a program that I am thrilled to have found.

Serious, it is the COOLEST thing.

Check it out.

But scroll down until you see where it says "See it in action." It is so worth the 9 minutes and 27 seconds.

Then let me know how much it helped you.

Poor Time Management--Work

You are an Estimator/Project Manager for a drywall company. (What a coincidence, this is exactly what I used to do!) Your partial to-do list for the day consists of the following

Meet with 3 General Contractors to go over bids and/or change orders
Meet with 2 others to get plans for new projects
Submit paperwork to the book keeper in order to bill for jobs for the week

What ends up happening is this

You meet with a GC on one side of the city, drive to the other side of the city for the second meeting, and then drive back very close to the first one for the third one.

This takes up approximately 2/3 of your day, not to mention the money for gas and wear & tear on your vehicle.

As for the last to-do, well, you kindof misplaced the bills for the sub-contractors. So, you'll have to get up with all 4 of them and have them redo their bill, collect them, and take them to the book keeper's house (No Way is billing going to be finished today--the deadline to submit for payment on Friday).

How are you going to cover payroll?

If you'd been using this tool throughout the day Poor Time Management would NOT have been an issue.

I'm telling ya, this program that will help with Poor Time Management is the greatest thing since disposable diapers.

Be sure to scroll down til you see "See it in action" and watch the video. It will be the best 9 minutes and 27 seconds you've spent in a long time!

Poor Time Management--Family

Your daughter really, really, really wants you to take her to the mall to meet with friends "just for a little while" on Saturday. You have been so stressed lately and it has shown in your relationship with her so you make an effort to appease her after being assured--once again--that it'll only be for "just a little while."

You dutifully follow her around (from a safe distance) and realize that you could have brought along that skirt you'd been trying to find a blouse to match. And, oh, you have your Christmas list on your dresser (you meant to put it in your purse).

As you pass an entrance you notice the grocery store across the street and remember your almost completed grocery list which you meant to finish today. You realize you could have easily finished it from memory and been over there shopping.

You see a lady walking with her IPod and think you could have been catching up on some sermons from Church that you'd missed when you had to go out of town last month.

My gosh, if you'd had this tool before you left the house you could have seen where you could combine errands and taken an additional step away from Poor Time Management habits.

Scroll down til you see "See it in action" and watch the video for info on how to see how you can combine errands to make life so much easier!
