Giant Squid Challenge December 2009: Pop Culture
Ranked #5,366 in Squidoo Community, #345,545 overall
Celebrities, Fashion, Trends, and More...
This is where you get to display those guilty pleasures. You can indulge in your passion for Dancing With the Stars, or reflect on your love for the Gilmore Girls...or Scott Baio...or Fat Albert. This is where you can lobby for Arrested Development to come back, or for Sacha Baron Cohen to not display anyone's junk in his movies.
I know, I know. A few of you are saying to yourselves, "But I'm just not a pop culture kind of person". Don't worry. Pop culture is a lot more than Megan Fox, Kanye West, and those blood sucking kids in Twilight. Pop Culture is defined as that which has been given approval by the mainstream of a culture, and often pushed by the media. This does not necessarily refer to the the American Idol culture - you don't have to target the American under 30 audience. Pop Culture can refer to ideas, trends, music, literature, and tv, toys, and beyond that are or were pretty much mainstream within their own culture. You've got a pop culture lens within you - if only just a poking fun at pop culture lens. Find it.
How This Works
Pop culture is a category that lends itself to doing a half-assed job - don't get sucked into that.
Good luck, and happy pop culture lensmaking.
