Welcome to My Poppy Paintings!
The poppy is one of the flowers I most love to paint and you will find a growing assortment of poppy paintings here as I continue adding them to this lens.
I grow these beauties covering most of our two lots, so dawn in early summer is magical at my house. I rove through the gardens with the bees, each of us collecting our own sweet harvests.
Of all my acrylic floral paintings, the poppies are definitely my favorites. The drama and intensity of them are unmatched.
I should mention that all the artwork shown on this lens is copyright protected. If you want prints, or originals for that matter, they are available at RiverStone Gallery.
Come often to visit these dawn flower paintings and dream of summer breezes!

Acrylic Painting of Poppies on Canvas
This is my most recent poppy painting. The nine poppies seemingly dance in the light, sparkling against the spring greens.
The painting is acrylic on canvas and measures 58" wide by 34" high. It has painted gallery wrap edges so it can hang with or without a frame.
The original painting and the giclee prints are available at RiverStone Gallery.

An Acrylic Painting on Paper
This backlit poppy is one of my smaller works, only 18" by 12.75". The back lighting makes the dewdrops quite a challenge to paint since the normal highlights are subdued from seeing them through the petals. The difference between painting them so they look right and so they look awful is incredibly subtle. The effect really attracts me however.

A luminous white poppy with early morning dew
This large acrylic painting measures 56" wide by 44" high with painted gallery wrap edges. The flower has a subtle lavender glow and dew drop accents. The yellow glow towards the center of the poppy adds a luminescent contrast.

Dancing Flower
A Wildly Colorful Poppy Painting
This exuberant painting shows how I often feel at dawn exploring the newly opened flowers in my gardens. The lush colors and dramatic lighting saturate the senses with delight!
I enjoyed painting powerful color in this painting. The purples are given extra emphasis by the small hints of orange and yellow in the petals and stamens.

Harmony
An Original Acrylic Poppy Painting
The acrylic on watercolor paper gives a soft effect that works well with the tangle of poppies and foliage.

- I love poppies (and have painted a few myself)!! Yours are glorious. Have you ever painted the elusive blue poppy? A friend of mine actually saw one during her travels somewhere around the Himalayas, I think...Thanks for sharing your artwork!
