Portable Pop Up Displays: The Simple Design That Has Become Timeless

30-years-old and still selling products.

A Pop Up Display May Be The Ticket In Tough Times

Portable Pop Up Displays were designed before Ronald Reagon was first elected President. For much of the 1980's and 90's the pop up display served as a bread and butter product for many of the biggest exhibit manufacturers in the business, not to mention to their dealers. However,as I mentioned here nearly a year ago, recent events have led to a dramatic fall in Pop Up Display prices.

In good news for Trade Show Exhibitors, some of the most popular U.S. manufactured Pop Up kits have dropped from an average price of $4000.00 just a few years ago to around $12-2200.00 today with fabric panels and from $5000.00 to under $2500.00 with mural panels. The result is that there are more portable pop ups being sold now than in their initial decade.

When first introduced, the Pop Up Display was the only portable trade show display available as an alternative to expensive custom exhibits. It opened the door of trade show exhibiting up to many starting businesses because of their affordability relative to custom exhibits.

Years passed and numerous other portable and modular trade show systems were developed to either compete with pop up exhibits or to augment a display line. In an industry that takes pride on being on the so called 'cutting edge' both in terms of marketing know and innovation, many waited for a next generation portable display to replace the Pop Up.

Demand for Pop Up Trade Show Displays remains very strong. So why the dramatic fall in price? In a word, Foreign Trade. Downward price pressure from Asia has forced U.S. Manufacturers to reduce wholesale prices. Manufacturing margins that had been unusually high are now more in line with the actual cost of materials and labor. In addition, assembly line production methods for the industry have improved.

After 30 years, why the continued popularity of the Pop Up Trade Show Display? Well, when you think about it, some design stands up well to the test of time and the pop up display is one of them. They are affordable, easy to set-up, and relatively inexpensive to transport. Most importantly, they are so darn good at displaying large format graphics. What happened to the Pop Up Trade Show Display? They have become more popular than ever.
