Good question. The reason that you need porn blocker software is because we are now living in a digital world. This is not the world that we, as parents grew up in. We didn't have 24/7 access to the internet. We didn't have a computer in our room to help us with our homework. The fact remains that this generation is exposed to the internet more than any other generation before it, and it's only going to get worse!
The traditional saturday morning cartoon has been replaced with MySpace.com and Facebook. The games of "hide and go seek" have been replaced with Playstation 3's and Xbox 360's. And even those machines are online enabled!
It's our duty as parents to try our best to shield our children as much as we can for as long as we can from the harsh and dangerous realities of the REAL WORLD! It's a proven fact that a child that has been exposed to pornographic images does develop a different perception of the world that what was intended. And that same child will need his/her parents to correct the damage that has been done! It doesn't happen to every child, some are able to adjust and continue on, but there is that small crowd of children that cannot get the images out of their mind.
Research has proven that this select few will become society's less than desirable. I don't have to paint a picture of that to you, do I?

If you answered a resounding "Yes!" to the above poll question, then you know the hidden dangers that exist on the internet! Statistics show that before the age of 8 years old, most children have seen some type of pornagraphic image online! 8 years old! On top of that, this new generation of kids is so tech-savvy that they can do things on the computer that you and I could not even hope to do!There are a series of alarming statistics out that support the absolute need for YOU, the parent to monitor what your kids are doing online! You really don't have to go very far to find proof of this either. How many of you have checked your kid's MySpace page? Matter of fact, how many of you even know what a MySpace page is? I have an even better question for you...How many of your kid's will ALLOW you to view there MySpace page! That's the question!
The point is, as parents, we have to do everything in our power to protect our children...from anything!
"Good Morning America" did a segment called "Not so kid-friendly websites" a couple of months ago. It really raised my eyebrows about pornagraphy on the internet. Because like you, I am a parent dealing with this very same problem.
