My simple guide to the popular Port Dickson, Malaysia
Hi, I'm a guy who loves to see new places and trying the food there. Luckily I'm married to a wonderful lady who also shares my likes.
So I felt that I should share some of my experience with you about some of the places I've been with these lenses. I will try to add more in the future when I see more places.
I will call these series A Layman's Guide.
One of our favourite destination is Port Dickson, Malaysia as it is located about 2 hours drive from our house. (We like to take our time driving).

Some comments of hotels that we have visited
My wife and I love to stay a different location when we go to Port Dickson. Below are some of the places we stayed. These are my comments, how I felt when I stayed there. They might have done some renovations or upgrading. I hope this will be some help to you.
Avillion Port Dickson
We received with our package a bouquet of roses, candlelight dinner for two, a neck and face massage for two and two days of breakfast. The resort is surrounded with greeneries and like my wife commented you feel like you are in another place. An ideal place for anyone who wants to go on their first honeymoon or have many honeymoons like us.

Corus Port Dickson
Stayed there about 3 years back. The hotel room we had overlooks the sea. The room was beautifully decorated. But it was quite a big hotel so if you don't mind lots families running around, it's a nice hotel. The beach has a small man made lagoon. That's the only place where you can swim. The pool is big with waterslides for the kids but we prefer swimming in the sea. So we didn't use the pool. For dinner we had the BBQ by the lagoon. The atmosphere was nice with the sea breeze blowing. It's a nice resort for families to stay.To find out more about Corus Port Dickson, go to their website please click here www.corusparadisepd.com

Eagle Ranch Resort
Eagle ranch is a unique resort that resembles a cowboy town. They have tepees (these are small rooms made to look like tepees, its equipped with TV, air conditioning and individual bathroom), Log cabins, and Family size rooms shaped like a bandwagon, and also dormitories should you need to bring a big group. We took the log cabin. It had simple decoration, a comfortable bed and open air bathroom. There is no phone in the room so room service is out of the question.
But the best part of the Eagle Ranch is the activities. There is archery (which my wife beat me at), paintball (should you have a group above 8 persons), canoeing, go-kart (which my wife beat me again) and also a small spa which was under renovation when we were there. There is also horse riding and pony riding. It's a fun place for kids and also the kids at heart adults.

Seri Malaysia Port Dickson.
Stay there on the 10th Nov 2009
Its a small budget hotel as all Seri Malaysia hotels are. The one in Port Dickson is located just across Teluk Kemang beach. Within walking distance to Pasar Malam (Night Market) and 7 km from Port Dickson town. The rooms are simple in decoration and there is only one outlet. The breakfast that comes with the room package is simple. Well don't expect much as the rack rate for this hotel is only RM140 per night. The plus point about this hotel its very near to stalls or shops selling food and souvenirs.

Places of Interest
There are a lot of interesting places to visit but our favourite place is always the beach.
The Tanjung Biru or Blue Lagoon. I used to go there with my family when we were kids. There is a cluster of small hotels, bungalows and apartments for night stay within the area. The beach there is slightly crowded on weekends as families prefer to picnic there. There are some small eateries there if you don't like the hassle of packing food.
Teluk Kemang beach is the most popular beach in PD among the other beaches along the 18km stretch of PD's coastline. It has better facilities with a lot of food eateries, changing and shower rooms, information center and also accommodation for every taste. Some is just a stone throw away.

Bougainvillea Resort, Port Dickson
updated 30th March 2010
I found this resort in Facebook. There were a lot of good comments on this resort. Some nice pictures too. The resort is located just at the back of Ocean View Resort about 15km from Port Dickson town. The road to it is small. I found the resort to be nice and cozy. The room was clean and so was the garden. The beach was a walking distance away. When we went there, it was on a weekday so the resort was very quiet. The only negative thing I can think about this resort is there were no food outlet and the small road made it difficult to go to town. If you don't mind that, than this is a great place to relax. Another thing to note is that they don't accept credit card, payments are in cash.

Selesa Beach Resort
updated 30th March 2010
Selesa is located about 10 minutes drive from the Port Dickson round about. It's easy to locate as the building is designed with the traditional Minangkabau architecture. The hotel is located on the stretch of white sandy beach. The beach was very clean. This time around I noticed that the beaches in PD are really clean. Kudos to the PD Municipal Council. The hotel is quite old so don't expect much. The plus point is that this resort is close by to eateries around PD. The hotel has a baby pool, a large, games room, gym and also an air-conditioned kid's room. For me this is a great hotel for families if you are in Port Dickson.Their website is Selesa Beach Resort
